Office Chair Gear Positions
The gear adjustment methods for office chairs vary depending on the type, mainly falling into three categories: lever-adjustable, manually adjustable, and electrically adjustable.

Lever-adjustable office chairs are typically equipped with a lever adjustment mechanism, usually located on the side of the chair. This adjustment method is commonly found in some high-end office chairs, allowing users to switch between different gear positions by pulling the lever. Each gear position corresponds to a fixed forward and backward tilt angle of the backrest, enabling users to select the appropriate gear based on the comfort of their sitting posture. For example, when a user needs a more upright sitting posture for office work, they can choose a gear position with a smaller backrest tilt angle; conversely, when they want to relax and rest, they can select a gear position with a larger backrest tilt angle to meet the usage requirements in different scenarios.
Manually adjustable office chairs are relatively common and mostly feature stepless adjustment, without preset 'gear positions'. Users can stop at any height within the lifting range. However, some chairs have five gear positions for backrest tilt adjustment. When adjusting the gear positions, it is necessary to first return the chair to the center position before switching gears. This is because forcibly twisting it back in the reclined state may cause damage or malfunction to the gears inside the chair, affecting its normal use and lifespan. For example, when a user wants to adjust the backrest tilt angle of the chair, they should first restore the chair to its initial state and then follow the operating instructions to adjust the gear positions.
Electrically adjustable office chairs are mainly used with adult height-adjustable desks, achieving lifting functionality through motor drive. They can set and store multiple fixed memory gear positions for one-touch switching. Users can set the heights they frequently use as memory gear positions according to their usage habits. The next time they use the chair, they only need to press the corresponding button, and the chair will automatically adjust to the preset height, providing convenience and speed. For example, users can set different memory gear positions for the height suitable for office work and the height suitable for resting, enabling quick switching between different scenarios.
