GB Standards for Office Chairs
The GB standards related to office chairs mainly include 'Office Furniture - Reading Tables, Chairs, and Stools' (GB/T 14531 - 2017) and 'Office Furniture - Office Chairs - Dimensional Measurement Methods' (GB/T 38733 - 2020).

'Office Furniture - Reading Tables, Chairs, and Stools' (GB/T 14531 - 2017): This standard primarily applies to furniture used in places such as libraries and archives, including office chairs. It specifies quality requirements for office chairs, covering standards for materials and structure to ensure safety and stability during use. Additionally, it defines testing methods, employing a series of scientifically rigorous tests, such as impact resistance and scratch resistance tests, to verify whether office chairs meet quality standards. Furthermore, the standard includes provisions for packaging and storage requirements to protect office chairs from damage during transportation and storage. During the revision process, some changes were made to this standard, including the removal of wood material indicators, strengthening dimensional fit specifications, and adjusting physicochemical performance indicators to align with the material and appearance technical requirements of GB/T 3324 'General Technical Conditions for Wood Furniture'. Moreover, the standard is planned to initiate revision work in March 2025, followed by a series of processes such as soliciting opinions and approval.
'Office Furniture - Office Chairs - Dimensional Measurement Methods' (GB/T 38733 - 2020): This standard specifically regulates the measurement methods for dimensions related to office chairs. It was released on April 28, 2020, and officially implemented on November 1, 2020. By clarifying the measurement methods for office chair dimensions, it provides a unified standard basis for the production and inspection of office chairs, helping to ensure the accuracy and consistency of office chair dimensions, meeting the needs of different users for office chair dimensions, and improving the versatility and adaptability of office chairs.
