Office Chair Gas Lift Lever
The key component of an office chair gas lift lever is the gas lift cylinder, which achieves lifting and lowering functions and provides support by compressing gas.

From an external perspective, the gas lift cylinder is a structure where a piston moves inside a large cylinder. The large cylinder connecting to the chair base and wheels is the outer shell of the gas lift cylinder. One end of the gas lift cylinder is connected to the bottom of the seat, and the piston end is fixed at the top of the outer shell.
There is a small push valve at the top of the gas lift cylinder, which is controlled by a height adjustment lever. When the piston is outside the cylinder, the atmospheric pressure inside and outside the cylinder is equal. When the piston is pushed upward, it compresses the air inside the cylinder, making the pressure inside the cylinder higher than the external atmospheric pressure. This pressure difference generates a net force, enabling the chair to rise.
To support the weight of the human body, the cylinder is filled with compressed gas, usually high-purity nitrogen and other inert gases. Nitrogen has stable chemical properties and is not prone to reacting with other substances, ensuring the stability of the pressure inside the cylinder. When adjusting the height of the chair, some gas is released through the control valve, reducing the pressure inside the cylinder and allowing the piston to move upward. When the piston reaches the top and there is no more pressure to lift it, the gas needs to be reintroduced. This process is achieved through an external cylinder filled with compressed gas.
It should be noted that pneumatic lift chairs have certain safety risks. If a low-quality pneumatic rod is used or the purity of the filled gas is insufficient, under conditions of frequent lifting and lowering and high temperatures, the pressure inside the pneumatic rod may suddenly increase, posing an explosion risk. Therefore, when choosing an office chair, attention should be paid to the quality of the pneumatic rod and the purity of the gas to ensure safe use.
