Four Grades of Office Chair Gas Lifts

Admin October 08, 2026

The international standard for office chair gas lifts is divided into four grades: Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4, with differences in applicable scenarios, maximum loads, and performance characteristics among the grades.

Grade 1: Primarily used in light-duty office seats, home office chairs, and computer chairs. These seats have relatively low usage frequencies and do not require high loads from the gas lifts. Their maximum load is 100 pounds, approximately 45 kilograms, which can meet the needs of users in general home office or light office scenarios.

Grade 2: Suitable for medium-density office seats, computer chairs, and conference room chairs. In office environments, the usage frequency of these seats increases, and they need to withstand a certain level of usage intensity. The maximum load for gas lifts of this grade is 125 pounds, about 57 kilograms, making them adaptable to medium-intensity office scenarios.

Grade 3: Commonly used in heavily used office seats, conference room chairs, and high-end computer chairs. In long-term, high-frequency usage scenarios, higher demands are placed on the load capacity and stability of the gas lifts. Their maximum load is 200 pounds, approximately 91 kilograms, and generally, Grade 3 gas lifts on the market can support up to over 250 kilograms, meeting the needs of relatively dense usage.

Grade 4: Designed for large seats used 24 hours a day in intensive settings, such as chairs in monitoring rooms and dispatch rooms. Seats in these locations need to continuously withstand significant pressure, placing extremely high demands on the performance of the gas lifts. The maximum load for gas lifts of this grade is 325 pounds, about 148 kilograms. Grade 4 gas lifts are exceptionally durable, and even a 500-kilogram person can sit on them steadily. Structurally, they have thicker tube walls, with an outer tube of 2 millimeters and an inner tube of 2.5 millimeters, and have undergone 120,000 pressure tests to ensure stability and safety under long-term, high-load usage.
