Office Chair Funding

Admin October 08, 2026

The allocation of office chair funding must adhere to corresponding regulations based on different circumstances, primarily involving standards for public funds in central government agencies, the use of union funds, and the classification of fixed assets or low-value consumables.

Standards for Public Funds in Central Government Agencies: For central government agencies, there are clear hierarchical standards for office chair funding. The price of office chairs for department-level personnel must not exceed 1,500 yuan, while those for section-level and below personnel must not exceed 800 yuan. These standards aim to regulate public fund expenditures in central government agencies, ensuring the rationality and compliance of fund usage, and avoiding unnecessary waste and over-standard allocation.

Use of Union Funds: Union funds can be used to purchase office desks and chairs, which falls under the category of capital expenditures for office equipment procurement. However, the purchase of office chairs using union funds must meet certain conditions. The purchase must comply with relevant laws, regulations, and union bylaws, and must undergo a legitimate approval process. Only when these conditions are met can union funds be used for the purchase, ensuring the legality and standardization of union fund usage.

Impact of Fixed Asset or Low-Value Consumable Classification on Fund Allocation: The classification of office chairs as fixed assets or low-value consumables directly affects how funds are allocated. If an office chair has a high unit price, a long service life, and meets the enterprise's criteria for fixed asset classification, it should be classified as a fixed asset. If its purchase is directly related to a project, such as for project office use, it may be allowed to be included in project construction funds to a certain extent, but must comply with the enterprise's relevant financial management systems and project budget regulations. If an office chair has a low unit price and does not meet the enterprise's set value standard for fixed assets, it should be accounted for as a low-value consumable. Low-value consumables are typically expensed in full when issued or amortized using other methods, and are generally not considered a direct component of project construction funds, but rather as an operational expense for the enterprise's daily operations.
