An office chair is a chair equipped for convenience in daily work and social activities. In a broad sense, it includes various types; in a narrow sense, it refers to a backrest chair used for seated desk work, designed in accordance with ergonomic principles.

From a broad perspective, office chairs encompass all chairs used in office settings, with a rich variety of types. For example, executive chairs are typically used by senior management personnel, featuring a luxurious and grand design, larger dimensions, and a comfortable seating experience that can highlight the user's status. Middle-management chairs, on the other hand, are relatively smaller in size and suitable for middle-level managers. Reception chairs are mainly used for receiving visitors, focusing on a simple and aesthetically pleasing appearance along with a certain level of comfort. Staff chairs are for daily office use by ordinary employees, emphasizing practicality and cost-effectiveness. Conference chairs are used in conference rooms to facilitate้›†ไธญ (concentrated) meetings, generally designed in a simple manner. Visitor chairs are for temporary visitors, being lightweight and easy to move. Training chairs are used in training settings and can be flexibly arranged. Ergonomic chairs, in particular, are designed based on the characteristics of the human body structure, providing better support and comfort to reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting.

In a narrow sense, an office chair specifically refers to a backrest chair used by individuals in a seated position for desk work. Its core components include a seat cushion, backrest, five-star base, casters, and a pneumatic height-adjustment system. The material and shape design of the seat cushion and backrest directly affect the comfort of the seating experience, generally using materials such as high-elasticity foam. The five-star base provides stable support and is mostly made of metal or high-strength plastic. Casters facilitate the movement of the chair. The pneumatic height-adjustment system allows the chair height to be adjusted via a pneumatic rod to accommodate users of different heights.

The design of office chairs fully adheres to ergonomic principles, supporting the body through adjustable lumbar supports, armrests, and headrests to maintain a natural physiological curvature. This not only helps improve work efficiency but also reduces physical fatigue and injuries caused by prolonged poor sitting postures, making them suitable for various settings such as offices, homes, and medical facilities.
