Front Beam of Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

The presence of a beam in front of an office chair can still have the negative impact of 'beam pressure' in Feng Shui, which needs to be resolved through methods such as adjusting the position, decorative covering, or using Feng Shui items.

From the perspective of Feng Shui, the core issue of beam pressure lies in the potential impact of the 'sense of oppression' it generates on the aura and psychology. Even if the beam is located in front of the office chair rather than directly above it, if one is constantly within its visual or aura radiation range (such as when the beam is relatively low or close), similar problems may still arise:

  1. Psychological level: The visual presence of the beam may subconsciously make a person feel depressed. Especially when the beam is at the same level as or slightly lower than the line of sight, it can easily distract attention and affect work efficiency.
  2. Aura level: Feng Shui theory holds that a beam creates an 'aura discontinuity' that hinders the flow of energy. If the beam in front of the office chair is relatively low, it may restrict the 'forward-moving aura' (symbolizing career development), and over the long term, it may lead to rigid thinking or blocked opportunities.

The resolution methods should be chosen according to the actual situation:

  • Adjust the position: Prioritize moving the office chair outside the influence range of the beam to ensure an open view in front and prevent the beam from appearing directly in front or diagonally above the line of sight. If space is limited, adjust the angle of the seat so that the beam is on the side rather than directly in front.
  • Decorative covering: Hide the beam by installing a false ceiling, suspended ceiling, or decorative beam cover (such as wooden or metal materials) to reduce its visual presence. If the beam is relatively low, hang fabric decorations or green plant vines below it to create a soft covering.
  • Plant relief: Place vigorous plants (such as pothos and spider plants) on the office desk below the beam. Use the upward-growing energy of the plants to neutralize the oppressive feeling of the beam, while also purifying the air and enhancing the vitality of the environment.
  • Feng Shui item assistance: Hang consecrated Five-Emperor Coins (ancient copper coins) or a natural gourd (with an opening) below the beam. The Five-Emperor Coins can gather wealth and resolve negative energy, while the gourd has the meaning of 'absorbing negative energy and curing diseases', which is suitable for alleviating the negative energy brought by the beam.
  • Physical adjustment: If the beam is relatively low and the seat cannot be moved, increase the sitting height by adding a thick cushion to reduce the vertical distance from the beam; or use a foldable, height-adjustable seat to avoid being fixed under the beam for a long time.

Precautions: When resolving the issue, comprehensively consider the specific position, height, and spatial layout of the beam, and avoid relying too much on a single method. If the beam problem is serious (such as multiple beams crossing or the beam being too low), it is advisable to make an overall adjustment in combination with the advice of a professional Feng Shui master.
