Office Chair Front and Back Adjustment

Admin October 09, 2026

The methods for adjusting the front and back of office chairs vary depending on the adjustment mechanism. Common types and operations are as follows:

1. Pneumatic Rod Adjustment Type

  • Backrest Angle Adjustment: Sit on the chair and lean slightly forward. Locate the control lever of the pneumatic rod beneath the chair. Pull the lever upward and lean back gently to tilt the backrest backward; push the lever downward and lean forward to return the backrest to its original position.
  • Seat Front-to-Back Sliding Adjustment: Some pneumatic rod designs (such as the G8587 model) support front-to-back movement of the seat cushion. After sitting firmly, pull the long lever beneath the front of the seat upward to unlock it. Then, move your body to slide the seat to the desired position and release the lever to lock it in place.

2. Knob Adjustment Type The adjustment knob is usually located on the side or beneath the chair. Rotate the knob counterclockwise to loosen the backrest lock and adjust the front-to-back tilt angle of the backrest as needed; after adjustment, rotate the knob clockwise to fix the current angle. This method is suitable for scenarios requiring fine adjustment of the backrest angle.

3. Lever Adjustment Type High-end office chairs may be equipped with a lever adjustment device located on the side of the chair. Pulling the lever allows you to switch between different gears, with each gear corresponding to a fixed backrest tilt angle. Users can select the appropriate gear based on their sitting comfort, making it suitable for those with specific requirements for backrest support.

4. Seat Cushion Depth Adjustment (Seat Depth Adjustment) In high-end ergonomic chairs, โ€œfront-to-back adjustmentโ€ often refers to seat cushion depth adjustment. The adjustment device is located beneath the left or right side of the seat cushion (such as a handle, knob, or paddle). When operating (e.g., pulling the handle), the front half of the seat cushion can extend or retract independently, changing the support point. The adjustment standard is to maintain a gap of 2-3 finger widths between the back of the knee and the edge of the seat cushion, ensuring that the thighs are fully supported withoutๅŽ‹่ฟซๆ„Ÿ (pressure sensation), and avoiding compression of blood vessels and nerves.

Adjustment Precautions:

  • When adjusting, keep both feet flat on the ground (or use a footrest), with the thighs and lower legs forming an approximate 90-degree angle.
  • The thighs should be fully supported by the seat cushion, with an appropriate distance maintained between the back of the knee (popliteal fossa) and the front edge of the seat to promote blood circulation.
  • The adjustment methods may vary among different models of office chairs. It is recommended to refer to the product manual or consult after-sales personnel.
