Office Chair Frame Repair

Admin October 12, 2026

Office chair frame repair can be carried out using methods such as inspecting and replacing wheels, glue repair, screw fixation, and metal corner brace reinforcement, depending on the extent of the damage.

Inspect and Replace Damaged Wheels

When an office chair wobbles or moves unevenly, the first step is to inspect the wheels. Place the chair upright and upside down to observe whether the wheels are on the same horizontal plane. If you find that the wheel feet are bent, deformed, or damaged, this is likely the cause of the chair's instability. In this case, purchase a set of new wheels that match the original ones for replacement. During the replacement process, pay attention to the installation direction and fixation method of the wheels to ensure they are securely installed and avoid further loosening or damage.

Glue Repair Method

If the office chair frame is wooden and has come apart, you can use woodworking glue or white glue for repair. First, align the separated parts to ensure the positions of each component are accurate. Then, evenly apply glue to the joints, being careful not to apply too much to prevent the glue from overflowing and affecting the appearance. After applying the glue, use clamps or ropes to tightly press and fix the separated parts, allowing the glue to fully penetrate and bond. Once the glue is completely dry, the chair will become stable. Generally, the drying time of woodworking glue or white glue depends on the ambient temperature and humidity, usually ranging from a few hours to a day.

Screw Fixation Method

If the chair frame has come apart due to loose or missing screws, locate the loose or missing screw holes. Use a screwdriver to insert the screws into the corresponding screw holes, ensuring they are tightened to firmly connect the frame components. If the screw holes are worn, preventing the screws from being properly inserted, you can fill the screw holes with wooden plugs or sawdust. First, insert the wooden plugs or sawdust into the screw holes, then use a screwdriver to insert the screws, which will increase the friction between the screws and the screw holes, making the connection more secure.

Metal Corner Brace Method

Selecting metal corner braces of the appropriate size and installing them on the separated parts can increase the stability and load-bearing capacity of the chair frame. Determine the installation positions and quantity of the metal corner braces based on the extent of the frame's damage. Place the metal corner braces in the corresponding positions and fix them to the frame with screws. During the installation process, ensure that the metal corner braces are in close contact with the frame surface and that the screws are tightened to avoid loosening or wobbling.
