Office Chair Forward Tilt Adjustment
The forward tilt adjustment function of office chairs aims to correct unhealthy sitting postures, reduce the risk of cervical and lumbar spine diseases, and some professional designs can provide precise support. Abnormal forward tilt in ordinary chairs is often due to mechanical failures and can be adjusted through specific steps.

The Role of Forward Tilt Adjustment Function in Professional Office Chairs
When people are focused on their work, they often unconsciously adopt a forward-leaning sitting posture. In this case, the neck and waist lack effective support, and the pressure on the cervical and lumbar spines is unevenly distributed. Maintaining this posture for a long time can significantly increase the risk of cervical and lumbar spine diseases. Office chairs with a forward tilt adjustment function can disperse the pelvic pressure to the front of the thighs through adjustment while ensuring stable support for the neck and waist, thus effectively relieving body pressure and protecting spinal health. For example, the MOKA T1 series is designed with a separate 12-degree stepless adjustment function for the pain points of forward-leaning sitting postures. It has a 4-centimeter stroke from the shoulder and a 7-centimeter adjustment range for the 4D headrest from front to back, providing precise support for the entire upper body from the waist to the back and then to the neck.
Adjustment Methods for Abnormal Forward Tilt in Ordinary Office Chairs
If an ordinary office chair has an abnormal forward tilt of the seat cushion, it usually does not have an "active forward tilt" function but is caused by mechanical failures or assembly problems. It can be adjusted through the following steps:
- Check the position of the adjustment lever and rule out reverse installation of the base plate: If the forward tilt adjustment handle is on the left side of the seat base plate (facing forward in a normal sitting position), it indicates that the base plate is installed backward. You need to turn the chair over, unscrew the screws connecting the chassis to the seat cushion, rotate the base plate 180 degrees and reinstall it to bring the control lever back to the right side.
- Adjust the seat cushion angle using the handle: Sit on the chair, reach under the seat cushion with one hand to find the adjustment handle, and turn the handle while slightly shifting your body weight backward or forward to feel the change in the seat cushion angle. When the seat cushion returns to a horizontal position or a comfortable angle, release the handle, and the automatic catch will lock it in place.
- Check and adjust the backrest tilt lock: Sometimes, abnormal forward tilt of the seat cushion may occur simultaneously with abnormal backrest angles. Find the tilt lock lever under the seat, gently pull it up or push it to release the lock, then lean back to adjust the backrest to an angle that matches the seat cushion, and pull up the lever again to lock it.
