Office Chair Foreign Trade Terms

Admin October 11, 2026

The commonly used terms in office chair foreign trade mainly cover product names, trade processes, and trade conditions, among others.

In terms of product names, an office chair is typically represented as 'Office chair' in international trade. This is a standard English expression widely used internationally, enabling both buyers and sellers to accurately understand the traded goods.

Trade process-related terms are crucial for conducting office chair foreign trade business. The first step is the inquiry (Inquiry), which marks the starting point of the entire trade process. Customers will send inquiries to suppliers, covering detailed information such as the price, specifications, materials, and delivery time of office chairs. For example, customers may want to know the price differences of a particular office chair model under different configurations or have specific requirements regarding the chair's size and load-bearing capacity. They obtain this critical information through inquiries to make subsequent purchasing decisions.

Next comes the quotation (Offer). After receiving a customer's inquiry, the supplier will provide a detailed quotation based on factors such as their own costs and market conditions. The quotation not only includes the unit price of the office chair but may also involve additional costs such as packaging and transportation fees. For instance, the supplier may offer a Free on Board (FOB) quotation, meaning that once the goods have crossed the ship's rail at the port of shipment, the seller has fulfilled their delivery obligations, and the buyer is responsible for the freight and insurance costs from the port of shipment to the port of destination.

An order (Order) is the formal purchase instruction issued by the customer to the supplier after accepting the supplier's quotation. The order will specify important terms such as the specific model, quantity, delivery time, and payment method of the office chair, serving as a crucial basis for both parties to fulfill the trade contract.

In addition, there are terms related to the trade conditions of office chairs. The Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) refers to the minimum quantity requirement set by the supplier for each purchase of office chairs by the customer, which helps the supplier arrange production and inventory reasonably. Free on Board (FOB) and Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) are two common trade terms. FOB emphasizes that the seller completes delivery at the port of shipment, and the risk is transferred to the buyer once the goods cross the ship's rail. CIF means that the seller is responsible for transporting the goods to the port of destination and paying the freight and insurance costs, while the buyer bears the risks and costs after the goods arrive at the port of destination.
