Placing a Suit on an Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

When placing a suit on an office chair, you can use the following two main methods, while paying attention to relevant details to avoid deformation or wrinkles in the suit:

Method 1: Fold and Cover the Chair Back and Seat

  • Steps: First, fold the suit in half, ensuring that the collar is facing upwards and placed on the chair back, allowing the suit to naturally cover the seat and backrest areas of the chair. If you are concerned that the suit may slide off due to gravity or develop creases, you can use a clip to secure it. Specifically, clip the suit at the center of the lower hem to keep it flat through physical restraint.
  • Principle: Folding reduces the contact area between the suit and the chair surface, lowering the risk of wrinkles caused by friction; placing the collar upwards maintains the shoulder contour and prevents shoulder line deformation; clipping secures the suit's position through external force, preventing it from sliding off.

Method 2: Hang the Suit Vertically on the Chair Back

  • Steps: Place the suit's shoulders against the chair back, allowing the entire suit to hang vertically downwards, with the trouser legs naturally hanging towards the end of the chair. If the chair is equipped with a hanging pad, you can use its supporting effect to further maintain the suit's shape.
  • Principle: Vertical hanging uses gravity to allow the suit to hang naturally, reducing horizontal compression-induced wrinkles; placing the shoulders against the chair back maintains the shoulder line's firmness; the supporting effect of the hanging pad disperses the suit's weight, preventing local deformation.

Precautions

  • Chair Selection: Prioritize using a relatively loose chair to avoid excessive compression between the suit and the chair surface, which can cause deformation. For example, avoid using chairs with narrow seats or overly hard materials.
  • Detail Arrangement: Before placing the suit, arrange its collar, sleeves, pockets, and other parts to eliminate wrinkles. You can smooth out the fabric by gently pulling and flattening, paying special attention to areas prone to creases, such as the shoulders and elbows.
  • Air Drying: Before placing the suit, it is recommended to air it slightly to allow odors and moisture to evaporate. A humid environment can easily cause the fabric to mold or develop odors, and air drying reduces these risks.
