Office Chair for Computer Placement
Admin October 19, 2026
When placing a computer on an office chair, it is essential to adjust the positions of the desk, chair, and computer according to ergonomic principles to reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting and prevent musculoskeletal injuries.

Desk and Chair Height Adjustment
- Desk Height: Choose a desk with adjustable height to ensure that the desktop is slightly lower than your elbows (about 2-3 cm) when seated. This allows your arms to hang naturally, with elbows bent at 90ยฐ-110ยฐ, enabling comfortable operation of the keyboard and mouse while avoiding muscle tension caused by shoulder or arm suspension.
- Chair Height: The chair should have height adjustment capabilities. Adjust it so that your feet rest flat on the floor, with knees at the same height as or slightly lower than your hips (about a 5ยฐ-10ยฐ tilt). If the chair lacks a footrest, adjust the seat depth (the distance from your buttocks to your knees should be about 2-3 finger widths) to ensure your thighs are parallel to the floor, reducing pressure on your legs.
Computer Screen Placement
- Height and Angle: The top of the screen should be level with or slightly lower than your eye line (about a 15ยฐ-20ยฐ downward tilt) to avoid neck muscle strain from looking up or down. The screen should be about 50-70 cm away from your eyes (adjust according to screen size; for example, a 24-inch screen is recommended at 60 cm) to reduce eye fatigue.
- Anti-glare Treatment: Position the screen away from direct sunlight or strong light sources, or use an anti-glare film to reduce the impact of glare on your vision.
Keyboard and Mouse Position
- Keyboard Placement: The keyboard should be placed at the center of the desk or slightly offset in the direction of hand operation (e.g., 5-10 cm to the right for right-handed users). Keep your wrists straight to avoid excessive bending or twisting. If using a split keyboard, further adjust the angle to fit your natural hand posture.
- Mouse Height: The mouse should be at the same height as the keyboard and placed to its right (left for left-handed users), keeping your arm parallel to the desk. Avoid placing the mouse too high or too low to prevent wrist twisting or shoulder compensation.
Chair Support Optimization
- Lumbar Support: Choose a chair with a backrest that fits the curve of your spine. The lumbar support point should be located at the third to fourth lumbar vertebrae (about above the navel), with moderate support to avoid sagging from being too soft or pressure on the bones from being too hard.
- Adaptive Function: If possible, choose an ergonomic chair with an Auto gravity-sensing base (such as the Baibaidiao E3Pro fifth generation), whose adaptive support structure adjusts to your movements, distributing body pressure and reducing fatigue from prolonged sitting.
Additional Advice: Stand up and stretch or change positions every 30 minutes to promote blood circulation; regularly check the stability of the desk and chair to avoid operational errors or loss of balance due to wobbling.
