Office Chair Footrest Storage

Admin October 09, 2026

The storage of an office chair footrest can be carried out according to the following steps:

First, locate the footrest at the bottom of the chair and determine the type of retraction mechanism. There are differences in how different office chair footrests are retracted. Commonly, there are mechanisms such as buttons or pull rings for retracting the footrest. If such a mechanism exists, press the button or pull the ring while applying force to retract the footrest upwards until it is flush with the bottom of the chair. During this process, the button or ring serves to unlock the footrest, and the upward force enables the footrest to overcome gravity and complete the retraction. For example, some common office swivel chairs have relatively obvious footrest retraction mechanisms, which are convenient for users to operate. If the footrest has no button or ring, it may be necessary to directly apply force to retract the footrest upwards, ensuring that it is also flush with the bottom of the chair in the end. Such footrests without obvious retraction mechanisms usually take into account the convenience of users applying direct force in their design. Their structure may be relatively simple, achieving the retraction function through reasonable mechanical design.

Second, check the fixation of the footrest after retraction. After completing the retraction of the footrest, be sure to check whether the footrest is firmly fixed to the bottom of the chair. This is a very important step because if the footrest is not properly fixed, it may suddenly drop during the use of the chair, which will not only affect the user experience but may also pose safety hazards, such as hitting the user's feet or damaging the floor. You can judge whether it is firmly fixed by gently shaking the footrest or observing the degree of fit between the footrest and the bottom of the chair.

Finally, storage methods for some special footrests. Some office chair footrests, such as the Sanye footrest stool, have unique storage designs. When retracted, it can be pushed under the desk, with a thickness that fits just around 15 centimeters, not blocking the drawer tracks at all, and the folding storage logic is clear. This design fully takes into account the effective utilization of office space, allowing users to conveniently store the footrest under the desk when it is not in use, saving space without affecting the normal use of other office furniture.
