Office Chair Footrest Replacement

Replacing the footrest of an office chair can be done through the following two methods:

Method 1: Shaking and Pulling Method

This method is suitable for situations where the footrest is tightly connected to the seat cushion but no special fixing structure is used. The specific operation steps are as follows:

1. Fix the footrest: Place the office chair on a flat surface and step on the five-star footrest with one foot to ensure that the footrest does not move randomly during subsequent operations, preventing the chair from tipping over or damaging other components due to shaking.
2. Shake and pull: Hold both sides of the seat cushion with both hands and gently shake the seat cushion from side to side while pulling it upwards. The purpose of shaking is to loosen the connection between the footrest and the seat cushion, and pulling helps to separate the seat cushion from the footrest.
3. Continue the operation: Keep shaking and pulling as described above for a while. Since the connection between some footrests and seat cushions may be relatively tight, it may take some time and effort to loosen them.
4. Change the gripping position: If the seat cushion is still not removed from the footrest after following the above steps, try holding the other two sides of the seat cushion and repeat the shaking and pulling actions until the seat cushion is successfully removed.

Method 2: Inspection and Disassembly Method

This method requires selecting the specific disassembly method according to the structure under the central column and is suitable for different types of footrest connection structures. The specific operation steps are as follows:

1. Turn the chair upside down for inspection: Gently turn the chair upside down on the ground. This makes it more convenient to inspect the structure under the central column and determine whether there is a flat washer snap ring.
2. In the case of a flat washer snap ring: If a flat washer snap ring is found under the central column, use an appropriate tool (such as a screwdriver) to remove the flat washer snap ring. After removing the flat washer snap ring, the old five-star footrest can be easily pulled out, and then the new five-star footrest can be installed.
3. In the case of no flat washer snap ring: If there is no flat washer snap ring under the central column, it means that the connection between the five-star footrest and the steel column is a conical structure, and they are pressed together by weight. In this case, gently tap the five-star footrest with a hammer to gradually loosen and remove it. Pay attention to the force during tapping to avoid damaging other components of the chair. After removing the old five-star footrest, install the new one.
