Office Chair Footrest Removal

Admin October 12, 2026

The methods for removing the footrests of office chairs vary depending on the brand and model, and the appropriate method should be selected based on the specific situation.

For office chairs with a clearly specified model, refer to their specific removal methods. For example, the footrests of the Sihoo C-series C300 and C500 are fixed to the chair body with three screws. When removing them, use an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew each of the three screws one by one. Once the screws are completely removed, the connection between the footrest and the chair body is released, allowing the footrest to be easily removed for replacement or repair. This method is relatively simple and straightforward, suitable for footrest structures fixed with screws.

In special emergency situations, such as when a 7-year-old child's left lower leg gets stuck in the footrest of an ergonomic chair, firefighters may first use pliers to dismantle the chair base. This indicates that in emergency rescue scenarios, it may be necessary to destroy part of the structure to quickly resolve the issue. However, this method usually causes a certain degree of damage to the chair and is only suitable for emergency rescues. It is not recommended for use in daily footrest removal.

For some office chairs where the five-star base is connected to the footrest, the removal methods also differ. One method is to step on the five-star base with one foot while holding both sides of the seat cushion and shaking it left and right while lifting upwards, continuing this action until it is removed. Another method is to invert the chair and check if there is a flat washer clip under the central column. If there is, remove the flat washer clip and pull out the old five-star base; at this point, the footrest may also loosen or can be removed together. If there is no flat washer clip, use a hammer to gently tap until the five-star base comes off, and then deal with the footrest. However, these methods may not be entirely suitable for removing the footrests of all office chairs, as the design structures of different chairs vary.

When removing the footrest of an office chair, be sure to first understand the specific model and structure of the chair, refer to the product manual or consult the manufacturer's customer service for the accurate removal method, to avoid damaging the chair or causing safety hazards due to improper operation.
