Office Chair Footrest Removal
The methods for removing the footrest of an office chair vary depending on the type. Here are the specific steps:

For the footrests of the Sihoo C series (such as C300 and C500), the fixing method is relatively simple. The footrests are usually connected to the chair body with three screws. To remove them, simply use an appropriate screwdriver (such as a Phillips screwdriver) to unscrew the three screws one by one. Pay attention to the screw specifications during operation to avoid slipping or damaging the threads due to mismatched tools. If the screws are rusty, spray a small amount of rust remover first and then remove them after lubrication.
The methods for removing the five-star base of an office chair should be selected according to the structural characteristics: Method 1: Shaking and Lifting Method This method is suitable for chairs where the five-star base is fixed to the seat cushion with clips or friction. During operation, step on the five-star base frame with one foot to fix the base, and hold both sides of the seat cushion tightly with both hands. Gradually separate the connected parts by shaking left and right and lifting upwards simultaneously. If the first attempt fails, change the gripping position of the seat cushion (such as the front and back sides) and repeat the above actions. This method relies on the elasticity of the clips, so keep the actions continuous and avoid excessive force that may deform the parts.
Method 2: Inverting and Tapping Method This method is suitable for chairs where the five-star base is fixed to the central column with flat washer clips or conical pressing. First, gently invert the chair onto a soft surface (such as a carpet) to avoid scratching the chair surface. Check the bottom of the central column:
- If there are flat washer clips: Use needle-nose pliers or a screwdriver to remove the clips, and then pull out the old five-star base. When replacing with new parts, ensure that the clips are firmly reset.
- If there are no clips: The five-star base is pressed against the steel column with a conical structure. In this case, use a rubber mallet or wooden mallet to gently tap along the edge of the five-star base to gradually separate it from the central column by vibration. When installing a new five-star base, align the conical angles and fix it by gravity pressing or gentle tapping.
Precautions:
- It is recommended to take photos of the original structure before disassembly for reference during reassembly.
- Wear protective gloves when using tools to avoid scratches or injuries.
- If the parts are severely aged (such as broken clips or worn threads), it is recommended to replace the entire set of five-star base components directly instead of repairing them separately.
