Office Chair Footrest Removal
There are several methods for removing the footrest (chair legs) of an office chair, and you can choose the appropriate operation based on different structural types:

Removal of Direct-Insertion Structure This type of chair leg is connected to the base through an insertion method, commonly seen in office chairs made of metal materials. When removing, grasp the root of the chair leg and continuously shake it slightly from side to side while pulling it upwards, using vibrations to loosen the connection. If the joint is tight, you can use a rubber mallet to gently tap the joint between the chair leg and the base, assisting in separation through vibrations. For models with anti-disengagement snap rings designed at the metal joints, use needle-nose pliers to grip the protruding end of the snap ring and remove it before successfully separating the chair leg. Pay attention to the force applied during operation to avoid deforming the snap ring or damaging the joint due to excessive force.
Removal of Screw-Fixed Structure If exposed screw holes are visible at the connection between the chair leg and the base, a screw-fixed structure is usually used. In this case, use theๆ ้ (standard-equipped) hex wrench to turn the screws counterclockwise to loosen them; if the screws are of a cross or flathead type, choose a screwdriver of the corresponding model for removal. If you encounter stripped screws, you can use needle-nose pliers to assist in holding the screw head to prevent it from rotating with the wrench, and then slowly loosen it. After removal, keep the screws properly to avoid losing them and affecting subsequent installation.
Method 1: Seat Cushion Pulling Method Place the chair on a stable floor, step on the five-star footrest (chair leg) with one foot to fix the base, and grasp both sides of the seat cushion with both hands. Shake the chair leg and base connection slightly from side to side to loosen it while continuously pulling the seat cushion upwards. Repeat this action until the chair leg is completely separated. This method is suitable for situations where the chair leg and base are tightly connected but have no complex fixed structures. Maintain body balance during operation to avoid the chair tipping over due to excessive force.
Method 2: Inverted Tapping Method Gently place the chair upside down on a soft floor (such as a carpet) to avoid scratching the seat surface or the floor. Check if there is a flat gasket snap ring at the bottom of the central column: if there is, use needle-nose pliers to remove the snap ring and then draw out the old chair leg and replace it with a new one; if there is no snap ring, it means the chair leg and the steel column are connected through a conical structure by pressing. In this case, wrap a soft cloth around an iron hammer (to prevent damage to the metal surface) and gently tap the edge of the chair leg, using vibrations to gradually loosen it and detach it from the steel column. When installing a new chair leg, ensure that the conical part is aligned and fix it by gravity pressing or gentle tapping.
