Office Chair Footrest Modification

Admin October 12, 2026

Modifying an office chair with a footrest requires operation based on the specific model and type of footrest. Common methods include footrest replacement and footrest installation.

For footrest replacement on the Sihoo C-series (C300/C500), the footrest is secured to the bottom of the chair with three screws. Before operation, prepare a foam pad to place on the floor to prevent the chair back from scratching the surface when it comes into contact with the floor. Then, use a screwdriver to remove the three fixing screws counterclockwise. After removing the old footrest, align the new footrest with the mounting holes and tighten it clockwise using the screws that come with the chair to complete the replacement. This process does not require additional tools and is relatively easy to disassemble and assemble. However, it is important to ensure that the screws are tightened with an appropriate amount of force to avoid the footrest wobbling due to being too loose or damaging the threads due to being too tight.

For the installation of a new footrest, follow these steps: 1. Clean the installation area: Ensure that the floor is flat and free of debris. If installing a plastic pedal, you can lay a rubber pad or anti-slip pad at the contact point between the floor and the pedal to enhance stability and reduce the risk of slipping. 2. Install the pedal body: Align the detachable pedal with the reserved slots or screw holes on the office chair frame, slowly insert it, and ensure that the direction is correct (to avoid misalignment causing structural dislocation). If it is a nut-fixed type, use a wrench to tighten the nut to an appropriate degree of force. Over-tightening may cause metal fatigue or friction noise, while under-tightening will result in a loose pedal. 3. Anti-slip treatment: A rubber anti-slip pad with self-adhesive backing can be attached to the bottom of the plastic pedal, or a removable anti-slip patch that does not require glue can be selected to further reduce the probability of displacement during use. 4. Test and acceptance: After installation, first gently shake the pedal by hand to check the fixing effect. After confirming that there is no looseness, sit on the chair, step on the pedal with both feet, and move back and forth to observe whether the pedal is stable and free of abnormal noise. If wobbling is detected, re-check the tightness of the nut or the fit of the anti-slip pad.

Precautions: Before modification, confirm whether the structure of the office chair frame supports the installation of a footrest (such as whether there are reserved screw holes or slots) to avoid damaging the chair body by forcing the installation. If the footrest is a third-party accessory, prioritize selecting a product that matches the dimensions of the original chair and strictly follow the instructions for operation.
