Office Chair Footrest Disassembly
There are several methods for disassembling the footrest of an office chair, and you can choose the appropriate one based on the type of footrest and the actual situation:

Method 1: Shaking and Lifting Method
If the footrest is tightly connected to the seat, you can try this method. Step on the five-star footrest below with one foot to ensure it is fixed in place. Hold both sides of the seat cushion with your hands, shake it left and right while lifting it upwards, and continue this action until it is removed. If there is no response, repeat the above steps by holding the other two sides of the seat cushion. This method is suitable for office chairs where the footrest and the seat are fixed only by friction without a complex connection structure.
Method 2: Inverted Disassembly Method
Gently invert the chair onto the ground and check if there is a flat washer snap ring at the bottom of the central column. If there is a flat washer snap ring, use an appropriate tool to remove it, pull out the old five-star footrest, and then install a new one. If there is no flat washer snap ring, and the connection between the five-star footrest and the steel column is conical and pressed together by weight, you can gently tap it with a hammer until the five-star footrest comes off, and then install a new one. This method is suitable for situations where the footrest has a specific connection structure with the central column. Be careful with the force during operation to avoid damaging the components.
General Steps
- Prepare Tools: Prepare a Phillips screwdriver and a wrench. If the chair is equipped with movable casters, you also need to prepare a small hammer.
- Determine the Disassembly Part: The footrest of an office chair generally consists of three parts: casters, chair leg supports, and connecting bases. Determine the specific part that needs to be disassembled.
- Disassemble the Casters: Turn the chair over, use a small hammer to tap the fixing claws at the bottom of the casters to make them pop out, and then use a wrench to remove the casters. When disassembling, avoid being injured by the popped-out claws. It is best to use a small tool.
- Disassemble the Chair Leg Supports: Unscrew the screws between the connecting base and the chair leg supports, and then use a wrench to separate the chair leg supports. Before disassembly, confirm whether there are any unremoved screws in other parts to avoid affecting the disassembly effect.
- Disassemble the Connecting Base: Unscrew the screws between the connecting base and the seat, and then use a wrench to separate the connecting base. Try to avoid using excessive force during the disassembly process to prevent damaging the chair and other components.
