Office Chair Foot Test
The office chair foot test mainly includes aspects such as caster life testing, chair foot impact testing, and five-star foot strength testing.

Caster Life Testing: This is carried out using an office chair caster life testing machine, which can simulate the scenarios of the chair sliding on both obstructed and unobstructed floors. Through this test, issues such as wear, jamming, and wheel detachment of the casters can be detected, ensuring that the casters meet the testing standards for office chairs and guaranteeing their normal operation during daily use.
Chair Foot Impact Testing:
- Testing Equipment and Conditions: An impact testing machine that meets specific precision requirements is used, which can precisely control parameters such as impact energy, speed, and angle. The impact head is hemispherical with a diameter of 50mm and is made of a material with a certain degree of hardness and toughness. The test environment temperature is 20โ ยฑ 5โ, and the relative humidity is 40% - 70%.
- Testing Procedure: First, a preload of 1334N (300lbf) is applied to a general office chair for 1 minute to simulate daily load-bearing conditions. Then, each chair foot is impacted separately. The impact point is 50mm above the contact point between the chair foot and the ground. Each chair foot undergoes 10 impacts with an interval of no less than 10 seconds between each impact. The impact energy is 10J for ordinary office chairs and can be increased to 15J for heavy-duty office chairs. The connection points between the chair feet and the chair seat also need to be impacted, with each connection point undergoing 5 impacts and an impact energy of 5J.
- Testing Result Evaluation: The structural integrity of the chair is checked, and chair foot breakage, loosening, or separation of connection parts are not allowed. A measuring tool with a precision of 0.01mm is used to measure the deformation of the chair foot after impact. The maximum allowable deformation in the impact direction is 10mm for ordinary office chairs and 15mm for heavy-duty office chairs. Further evaluation is required if these values are exceeded. Functional tests such as lifting, rotating, and tilting the chair are also conducted to ensure smooth operation without jamming or abnormal noises.
Five-Star Foot Strength Testing: The testing scope is extensive, covering the performance of five-star feet with different materials, structural forms, applicable chair types, and load levels. Testing items include static load testing, forward tipping testing, backward tipping testing, lateral tipping testing, cycle life testing (durability testing), and drop impact testing. For example, an office chair five-claw static pressure testing machine can be used to apply a force of 7560N to the five-star foot for 1 minute, and the test is conducted twice to check for any damage or deformation.
