Small Feet of Office Chair
If the small feet of an office chair make it difficult to place your feet comfortably, you can solve the problem by adjusting your sitting posture, temporarily raising your feet, modifying the furniture, or replacing the furniture.

Adjusting Sitting Posture: When your legs hang naturally, if your knees are higher than your hip joints, try pulling your feet backward so that the soles of your feet lie flat on the ground, reducing the discomfort caused by leg suspension. You can also adopt a crossed-leg sitting posture, but be careful to avoid maintaining the same posture for a long time to preventๅ ้ (worsening) leg compression. In addition, it is recommended to get up and move around every 30 minutes in an office setting to promote blood circulation and prevent lower limb edema or numbness caused by prolonged sitting.
Temporary Height Increase Solution: If adjusting your sitting posture still does not alleviate the problem, you can temporarily raise your feet by placing hard objects under them, such as hard books, plastic turnover boxes, or special footstools (recommended height: 15 - 25cm). Ensure that the supporting surface is stable and non-slip, and avoid using easily deformable items (such as pillows) to prevent slipping or support failure. If used by children, adult supervision is required to prevent the risk of falling.
Furniture Modification: If the chair has a detachable design (such as common office chairs), try raising the lifting rod to increase the seat height. If it is a fixed-height stool, contact the manufacturer to install extension legs. Before modification, confirm the material and structural load-bearing capacity of the furniture: for solid wood furniture, evaluate the strength of mortise-and-tenon or screw connections to avoid breakage due to height increase; for metal materials, it is recommended that professionals weld extension parts to ensure the firmness of the welding points.
Replacing Furniture:
- Buying a New Stool: A long-term solution is to replace the furniture with ergonomic options. For adults, the recommended seat height is 38 - 45cm (40cm for a height of 170cm), and the seat depth should be no less than 40cm. Bar stools should be used with 50 - 75cm footrest bars. People with special body types can customize furniture, and the seat height can be calculated using the formula: height(cm)ร0.25 - 1.
- Choosing a Chair for Small Feet: For foot types with a foot length of less than 23 centimeters, you can choose a chair for small feet. Its seat height is moderate, ensuring that the feet can hang naturally, reducing the burden on the knees and relieving leg swelling and pain. It adopts a curved design that conforms to the arch of the foot, avoiding discomfort from curling up. The seat surface is soft and breathable, and the chair legs are stable and not prone to wobbling.
