Office Chair Foot Designs

Admin October 11, 2026

Common office chair foot designs on the market mainly include five-star feet, four-legged feet, bow-shaped feet, and high feet, among others. Different designs vary in terms of stability, applicable scenarios, and material selection.

Five-star swivel chairs are the most widely used type, with their core advantage being the five-claw structural design. This design evenly distributes pressure through five support points, maximizing the contact area between the chair feet and the ground, thereby significantly enhancing stability. It is particularly suitable for office scenarios that require frequent movement or rotation. In terms of materials, five-star feet are usually made of nylon, steel, or aluminum alloy: nylon is lightweight and cost-effective, suitable for budget-constrained environments; steel structures offer high strength but are heavier; aluminum alloy combines lightweight properties with durability and is a common choice for high-end office chairs.

Four-legged chairs have a relatively simple design, consisting of four independent legs. Due to the fewer support points, they have a smaller contact area with the ground, resulting in relatively weaker stability and a tendency to tip over on uneven surfaces or during movement. Therefore, four-legged chairs are mostly used in static scenarios such as meetings and training sessions and require a relatively flat ground surface. In terms of materials, four-legged chairs are usually made of metal or plastic to balance cost and durability.

Bow-shaped chairs feature an arc-shaped foot design, with an overall structure resembling the Chinese character 'ๅผ“'. This design distributes pressure through an arc-shaped support surface, maintaining a certain level of stability while reducing friction between the chair feet and the ground, making it suitable for scenarios that require short-distance movement. Bow-shaped chairs are mostly made of metal or reinforced plastic, with some high-end models using aluminum alloy to enhance texture.

High-foot chairs are customized products designed for specific needs, with chair feet significantly higher than those of conventional office chairs. They are usually equipped with electroplated metal feet and adjustable footrests. The footrests support up-and-down adjustment and 360-degree rotation, allowing users to adjust their sitting posture according to their height. They are particularly suitable for work scenarios that require alternating between standing and sitting, such as laboratories and design studios. The electroplating process not only improves the corrosion resistance of the chair feet but also gives them a modern appearance.

In addition, some brands, such as the AOKE series, offer multi-dimensional foot shape options, meeting the needs of different spaces and scenarios through modular design. For example, compact four-legged or bow-shaped feet can be chosen for small spaces, while five-star swivel chairs are more suitable for open office areas to balance stability and flexibility.
