Mold Removal from Office Chairs and Floors
Admin October 09, 2026
Targeted methods should be selected for mold removal from office chairs or floors based on the material. Details are as follows:

I. Mold Removal from Wooden Office Chairs
Mild Mold
- Use a soft cloth dipped in 75% medical alcohol or diluted white vinegar (1:5 ratio) to wipe the moldy area. Immediately dry the area after cleaning to avoid liquid residue.
- Place the office chair in a well-ventilated area to dry for at least 2 hours, ensuring the internal humidity of the wood is reduced.
- Principle: The acidic components of alcohol and white vinegar can destroy the cell structure of mold and inhibit its regeneration.
Severe Mold
- If the mold has penetrated into the wood, use 80-120 grit sandpaper to sand the moldy area along the wood grain until clean wood grain is exposed.
- Spray a specialized wood mold remover (such as a product containing quaternary ammonium salts), let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and then wipe it off with a dry cloth.
- Finally, apply a coat of wood varnish or wood wax oil to form a dense protective layer that isolates moisture and mold.
- Key Points: Sanding should be even to avoid excessive damage to the wood surface; test the mold remover in an inconspicuous area before use to prevent corrosion.
Mold Prevention Measures
- Maintain indoor humidity below 60%, which can be achieved using a dehumidifier or the dehumidification function of an air conditioner.
- Avoid placing the office chair in damp corners for long periods, such as near windows or bathrooms.
II. Mold Removal from Panel Furniture (such as Floors)
Cleaning Steps
- First, use a dry towel to sweep away surface mold dust to prevent the spread of mold spores.
- Use a brush dipped in an anti-mold cleaner (such as one containing sodium hypochlorite or organic acids) to thoroughly wipe the area, including crevices and joints, until the mold is completely gone.
- Applicable Materials: Oriented strand board, particle board, multi-layer solid wood board, and other artificial boards.
Protective Treatment
- After cleaning, let it dry naturally for 3-5 minutes. Once there is no visible water on the surface, use a spray bottle to evenly spray the furniture mold remover in a mist form.
- The mold remover should cover all surfaces to form a continuous antibacterial protective layer.
- Note: Avoid operating in direct sunlight or high-temperature environments to prevent the mold remover from evaporating quickly and becoming ineffective.
III. General Mold Prevention Suggestions
Environmental Control
- Regularly open windows for ventilation, at least twice a day for more than 30 minutes each time, to promote air circulation.
- Use a dehumidifier during the rainy season to maintain indoor humidity within the ideal range of 40%-50%.
Auxiliary Measures
- Place silica gel desiccants in the gaps and drawers of wooden or fabric furniture and replace them regularly to maintain moisture absorption.
- Avoid laying carpets directly on the floor to prevent moisture accumulation and floor mold.
IV. Operation Precautions
- Protective Equipment: Wear an N95 mask and rubber gloves when dealing with mold to prevent inhaling mold spores or coming into contact with irritating cleaners.
- Safety Testing: Mold removers containing strong oxidizing components may corrode wooden or metal fittings. Test for compatibility in an inconspicuous area before use.
- Timely Treatment: Clean up mold as soon as it is discovered to prevent it from spreading to other areas or penetrating deeper into the material.
