Packaging of Finished Office Chairs

Admin October 09, 2026

Refer to the following steps for packaging finished office chairs to ensure safe transportation and efficient handling:

I. Prepare Materials

  1. Packaging Container: Choose a five-layer corrugated cardboard box that is slightly larger than the chair, offering superior compressive strength and cushioning.
  2. Protective Materials:
    • Bubble Wrap: Use for overall wrapping, focusing on protecting protruding parts such as chair corners and armrests. For genuine leather or wooden surfaces, cover with a soft cloth before wrapping to prevent friction damage.
    • Plastic Wrap/Stretch Film: Secure the bubble wrap and prevent it from loosening, while also wrapping small parts (such as screws) or the air pressure rod (spiral wrapping upwards from the bottom of the chair legs).
  3. Fillers: Use foam blocks, crumpled old newspapers, or fabric scraps to fill gaps inside the box and prevent the chair from moving.
  4. Tools: Utility knife, tape, box sealer (to improve efficiency), marker (for labeling), screwdriver (for disassembling detachable parts).

II. Disassemble Parts (for chairs with detachable parts)

  1. Separate Detachable Components: Such as air rods, wheels, and armrests, to reduce overall weight and save space.
  2. Label and Store:
    • Wrap small parts like screws separately in plastic wrap, label them, or screw them back into their original holes to avoid loss.
    • Wrap the air pressure rod separately in bubble wrap and then reinforce it with stretch film.

III. Wrap for Protection

  1. Overall Wrapping:
    • Cover the chair entirely with bubble wrap, reinforcing vulnerable areas (such as the backrest connection and air pressure rod).
    • Secure the bubble wrap with plastic wrap to ensure it is tight and does not loosen.
  2. Special Part Handling:
    • Air Pressure Rod: Spiral wrap stretch film upwards from the bottom to form a protective layer.
    • Genuine Leather/Wooden Surfaces: Lay a soft cloth first and then wrap with bubble wrap to prevent the film from adhering or scratching the surface.

IV. Pack and Seal the Box

  1. Packing Method:
    • Place fillers (such as foam blocks) at the bottom of the box and place the wrapped chair upside down (with the legs facing upwards) to reduce the risk of pressure on the bottom during transportation.
    • Fill gaps around the sides with old newspapers or fabric scraps, focusing on cushioning the connection between the backrest and seat to ensure the chair remains stable and does not move.
  2. Sealing and Labeling:
    • Seal the box with tape both horizontally and vertically, especially reinforcing the bottom and seams.
    • Use a thick marker to label the front of the box with โ€œTHIS SIDE UPโ€ and โ€œFRAGILEโ€. Attach red warning tape to vulnerable parts to remind handlers to handle with care.

Notes: If the chair cannot be disassembled, increase the thickness of the bubble wrap and reinforce protection for the corners and edges. Check the packaging for firmness before transportation to avoid shifting or damage during handling.
