Office Chair Filling Repair
Admin October 11, 2026
Office chair filling repair requires selecting materials and performing operations step by step according to the location of the collapse or cavity. The specific methods are as follows:

Seat Cushion Collapse Repair
Material and Tool Preparation
- Tools: Screwdrivers (cross/flat-head), snap-fastener removal tool (or flat-head screwdriver), scissors, heavy-duty stapler (or leather glue/thick needle and thread), work gloves; optional hammer, pliers.
- Materials: High-density high-resilience foam (density 40-50kg/mยณ, thickness increased by 1-2cm compared to the original size), or memory foam, composite fillers (such as latex particles + high-elastic fibers). Accurately measure the dimensions of the old filler.
Seat Cushion Removal
- Screw-fixed type: Invert the chair, use the corresponding screwdriver to turn counterclockwise and remove the screws connecting the seat to the base and backrest, and store them separately.
- Snap-fastener-fixed type: Insert your hand into the gap between the seat cushion and the base, first pull outward on the front end to disengage the snap fasteners, then push the entire cushion backward to remove it; for backrest removal, push downward from the top and pull outward on the upper edge to avoid breaking the snap fasteners.
Filling Repair
- Add filler: If the seat cushion has a zipper, open it and evenly fill with foam/memory foam, avoiding overfilling that could cause deformation, then sew the opening shut; if there is no zipper, cut and secure new foam.
- Adjust internal structure: Check springs or straps, replace broken springs with pliers, tighten loose straps.
- Use repair tools: There are specialized seat cushion repair supports available on the market. Install them on the collapsed area according to the instructions to restore shape through support.
Re-cover the fabric
Measure the dimensions of the seat cushion, cut fabric of a similar material, and secure the edges with glue or needle and thread to ensure a flat and tight fit.
Lower Backrest Cavity Filling Repair
Safety Assessment and Preparation
- Structural inspection: Shake or press the backrest to check for looseness, abnormal noises, or deformation in the frame; repair broken wood (white glue bonding + wooden strip reinforcement), tighten loose screws, and correct slightly deformed metal parts.
- Tools and materials: Scissors, ruler, screwdriver (optional), Velcro/straps, needle and thread fabric (for homemade inner sleeves); estimate the filling amount based on the cavity volume (better to have more than less).
Filling Material Selection
- High-resilience foam: Soft and breathable, with strong support, suitable for scenarios with high lumbar support demands.
- Three-dimensional crimped fiber (PP cotton): High fluffiness, good elasticity, not prone to collapse after long-term use, with high cost-effectiveness.
- Foam plastic particles: Highly fluid, suitable for irregular cavities, but with reduced support after long-term compression.
Filling Operation
Fill the material into the cavity and secure it with Velcro or straps; if a homemade inner sleeve is needed, cut and sew the fabric to wrap the filler, then secure it inside the backrest.
