Office Chair Factory Production

Admin October 09, 2026

The production process of an office chair factory mainly includes design and development, raw material and component control, core structural part production, assembly and stitching, base and caster installation, quality inspection and evaluation, and other steps.

Design and Development: This step is the starting point of office chair production, involving multidisciplinary integration and innovation. The design team conducts in-depth research on sitting postures, pressure distributions, and common fatigue points in different work scenarios, producing creative sketches and exploring core functions and overall forms. Engineers then translate design concepts into technical parameters, covering structural design, material selection, and digital simulations, ensuring that the design is ergonomic, practical, and aesthetically pleasing.

Raw Material and Component Control: The factory strictly screens suppliers and conducts comprehensive inspections on all incoming raw materials and externally purchased components, such as mesh fabric, foam, plastic pellets, steel, gas rods, and casters, to ensure they meet safety, environmental, strength, and specification standards, providing reliable guarantees for subsequent production.

Core Structural Part Production: This includes frame production, spring and support, and leather and foam processing. Frame production involves bending steel pipes using hydraulic-powered machines and welding steel bars as support structures. In the spring and support step, workers use S-shaped steel springs to hook onto the seat frame and add iron bars to enhance stability. For leather and foam processing, leather is cut according to cardboard templates, and foam cushions are selected with different hardness for different parts, with slits cut to reflect design features.

Assembly and Stitching: Workers use chalk to draw lines on leather and foam to ensure aligned cuts before stitching. For the backrest, the filling is first sewn onto the pattern pieces, followed by the outer shell and sides. Finally, particleboard is added outside the frame, wrapped in foam, and covered with leather.

Base and Caster Installation: Workers screw the sliders onto the base and install the matching mechanisms to enable functions such as forward and backward movement of the seat. Some factories also perform acid washing, grinding, polishing, and galvanizing on the footrests to enhance aesthetics and durability.

Quality Inspection and Evaluation: After producing a physical prototype chair, the design team, engineers, and potential users conduct multiple rounds of trial sittings and evaluations, refining details from perspectives such as comfort, adjustability, and appearance quality until the preset goals are achieved.
