Inside an Office Chair Factory
The production of office chairs in factories involves several key aspects, including design and development, core materials, assembly processes, and the operation of different types of factories.

Design and Development is the starting point of office chair production. Designers must fully consider ergonomic principles. For example, the curve of the chair back should fit the natural curvature of the human spine, the position of the lumbar support should precisely support the lower back, and the depth and inclination of the seat cushion should ensure a comfortable sitting posture. After drawing structural diagrams using professional software, sample prototypes are made for testing and optimization. In terms of material selection, the mesh fabric needs to have good breathability, elastic resilience, and tensile resistance to ensure it does not deform after long-term use.
Regarding core materials, mesh fabric and the chair base are crucial. Mesh fabric is usually woven from materials such as polyester fibers through special processes. Its mesh structure can evenly distribute pressure and maintain air circulation. In the factory, large rolls of mesh fabric raw materials are cut into specific shapes in preparation for the subsequent mesh-stretching process. The chair base, which controls the chair's functions of height adjustment, rotation, and reclining, is composed of high-strength engineering plastics and metal components and is known as the 'heart' of the chair. Its quality directly affects the chair's safety, smoothness, and service life. During production, durability tests are carried out, such as simulating tens of thousands of height adjustment and reclining cycles.
The assembly process consists of multiple steps. First, the chair legs and the five-star base are assembled. Common five-star bases are made of nylon or aluminum alloy materials and need to be firmly connected to the central connector through casters or screws. Next, the chair base and the gas lift are installed. The gas cylinder is inserted into the central hole of the five-star base, and then the base mechanism is installed on top of the gas lift and locked. The quality of the gas lift is crucial for smooth height adjustment and safety. It is filled with inert gas and has strict grade and sealing standards. The final step is the mesh-stretching process. Workers need to fix the cut mesh fabric onto the chair back and seat frames, accurately hook or embed it into the slots around the frames, and use special tools to tighten it to ensure uniform tension and a flat surface.
Different types of factories operate in various modes. Full-industry-chain factories like Guojing Office Furniture have established three manufacturing basesโa paint factory, a soft furniture factory, and a plywood factoryโto achieve coordinated production scheduling. Ordinary office chair factories offer a wide variety of product styles. The internal fillings include high-elastic foam sponge and medium-density foam sponge, among others. Prices vary according to product specifications and brands.
