Fabric for Office Chairs
The fabric for office chairs is primarily divided into three categories based on different parts and functional requirements: common fabrics, black fabric at the bottom of the chair, and mesh materials, each with its own characteristics.

Common Fabrics
The mainstream fabrics for ergonomic office chairs focus on functionality, typically featuring characteristics such as long-lasting shape retention, abrasion resistance, and ease of maintenance. Their material design balances soft, skin-friendly touch with environmental friendliness and odorlessness, ensuring comfort and safety during prolonged use. Additionally, some fabrics are treated with special processes to provide waterproof and stain-resistant properties, effectively reducing the frequency of daily cleaning and extending the lifespan. These fabrics are mostly used on parts that come into direct contact with the skin, such as the seat and armrests, balancing durability and user experience.
Black Fabric at the Bottom of the Chair
The material of the black fabric at the bottom of the chair directly affects the structural stability and lifespan of the chair. Common types include non-woven fabric and high-density polyester:
- Non-woven fabric: It has a relatively low cost, good breathability, and is naturally degradable, meeting environmental requirements. However, its durability is relatively weak, and it is prone to shedding after long-term use (about 3-5 years), making it suitable for budget-sensitive or short-term use scenarios.
- High-density polyester: Its structure is similar to a tightly woven fishing net, with a unit area weight of over 100 grams, providing excellent resistance to pulling and tearing. It is not prone to mold or deformation when damp. High-end office chairs often use this material. The black design is not only dirt-resistant but also has firm dyeing, making it less likely to fade after long-term use, suitable for high-intensity use environments.
Mesh Materials
Mesh materials have become a popular choice for office chairs due to their breathability advantages. Common types include:
- Polyester fiber mesh: Made from high-molecular polymers, it features UV resistance and abrasion resistance, being lightweight and breathable. After multiple cleanings or daily use, it can still maintain its original strength and shape. It is commonly used in the production of seats and backrests, balancing support and comfort.
- Nylon mesh: As a durable synthetic fiber, it is notably lightweight, soft, and breathable, and offers a variety of color and texture options. It is commonly used in the backrest and seat support parts, enhancing visual aesthetics while ensuring durability.
- Polypropylene mesh: Widely used in recent years, it stands out for its UV resistance and stain resistance, with toughness and durability superior to ordinary mesh. Its natural breathability, combined with antibacterial and antifungal properties, effectively reduces bacterial growth, making it suitable for office environments with high hygiene requirements.
The choice of different materials should be based on the usage scenario, budget, and functional requirements. For example, high-density polyester is suitable for long-term use, while polypropylene mesh focuses more on health protection.
