Office Chair Fabric Cutting

Admin October 10, 2026

Office chair fabric cutting is usually carried out during the process of reupholstering an office chair, mainly involving steps such as disassembling the chair, measuring dimensions, and applying cutting techniques.

Disassembling the chair: This is the first step in office chair fabric cutting. You need to use tools like a screwdriver to unscrew each screw on the office chair one by one. During the disassembly process, be extremely careful to avoid damaging other components of the chair. At the same time, record the positions and order of the screws in detail because you will need to screw them back in the same order during subsequent reassembly to ensure the structural stability of the chair. For example, some office chairs have their seats and backrests fixed to the frame with multiple screws. If you don't record the screw positions well, there may be a mismatch of screw holes during installation, affecting the installation progress and quality.

Measuring dimensions: Accurately measuring the dimensions of the seat and backrest is a crucial step in fabric cutting. Use a ruler to carefully measure data such as the length, width, and height of each part and then cut the fabric according to the measurement results. When cutting, be sure to leave some allowance. This is because subsequent sewing and fastening operations are required. Without an allowance, the fabric may be insufficient in size and unable to fully cover the surface of the chair, affecting the reupholstering effect. For example, if the measured length of the seat is 50 centimeters, you can reserve a length of about 55 centimeters when cutting the fabric.

Cutting techniques: To make the cutting more accurate, you can use a pencil or chalk to mark on the fabric. First, draw the corresponding outline on the fabric according to the measured dimensions and then cut along the outline. This can avoid deviations during the cutting process and ensure that the shape and dimensions of the cut fabric meet the requirements. In addition, when cutting some parts with special shapes, such as the curved part of the backrest, be more careful. You can first fold the fabric and cut it along the curve to obtain a more precise shape.
