Office Chair Extension Assembly

Admin October 11, 2026

The assembly of an extendable office chair can be carried out following these steps:

I. Prepare Tools and Environment
Gather all necessary tools, including a Phillips/flat-head screwdriver, an adjustable wrench or socket wrench, a spirit level (for securing the base), and a rubber mallet (optional for assisting in tapping components). Choose a flat and sturdy surface as your work area, ensuring adequate lighting and sufficient space around to prevent installation errors or component damage due to environmental issues.

II. Inventory the Components
After unpacking, carefully check the components against the instruction manual, including screws, connectors, brackets, gas lift cylinders (if applicable), seat cushions, backrests, and armrests. Pay special attention to inspecting metal parts for any deformation or cracks caused by transportation, and plastic parts for any breaks or wear. If any issues are found, contact the merchant promptly for replacement.

III. Core Assembly Steps

  1. Main Frame Assembly: Take out the metal frame components such as chair legs and support beams. Identify the positions of the parts according to the instruction manual and initially connect them using screws or clips. Do not tighten the screws at this stage to allow for subsequent angle adjustments.
  2. Base Installation: If the chair needs to be fixed to the floor (e.g., a commode chair), use a spirit level to ensure the base is level before securing it with screws. For non-drilling installation, peel off the adhesive backing of the fixing plate, stick it onto a clean and dry tiled floor, press firmly, and let it sit for at least 24 hours to ensure adhesion.
  3. Armrest and Backrest Connection: Align the armrests and backrest with the mounting holes on the main frame and insert screws for initial fixation. Ensure that the armrests are slightly angled upwards to prevent wrist compression during use.
  4. Gas Lift Cylinder Installation: The piston rod of the gas spring must be inserted vertically downwards into the compression pump sleeve at the bottom of the seat. After centering, tighten the fixing cap. It is strictly prohibited to install it at an angle or apply lateral force, as this may cause the gas lift cylinder to fail or explode. Additionally, avoid exposing it to open flames, striking it, disassembling it privately, or applying paint.
  5. Seat Cushion and Accessory Installation: Attach the seat cushion, back cushion, or functional accessories (such as a splash guard or cold-proof pad for a commode chair) to their respective positions. The splash guard of a commode chair should be fitted over the edge of the squat toilet, relying on the seal ring at the mouth of the bucket to prevent leakage.
  6. Overall Tightening: Using a wrench, gradually and evenly tighten all initially fixed screws in a diagonal sequence to prevent uneven local stress that could cause structural misalignment. After completion, observe the chair from all angles to ensure it is upright and gently shake it to check for any looseness.

IV. Adjustment and Functional Testing
For chairs with adjustable height, adjust the height by pressing the adjustment button on the chair leg tube or operating the gas lift cylinder control button to ensure smooth lifting and lowering without jamming. During testing, simulate daily use scenarios, such as sitting and reclining, to confirm that all components are securely connected and functioning properly.
