Export of Office Chairs to Spain

Admin October 13, 2026

Office chairs exported to Spain must meet the requirements of UNE EN 1335-1:2021 and EN 1335-2:2019 standards and obtain CE certification. The specific requirements are as follows:

I. Standard Requirements

  1. General Design Requirements According to the EN 1335-1 and EN 1335-2 standards, office chairs must meet the requirements of structural rationality, material safety, and ergonomic adaptability. For example, parameters such as the height of the chair back and the depth of the seat surface should conform to human body size standards to ensure comfort and safety during use.

  2. Stability Tests

    • Seat Front Edge Stability Test: Simulate whether the front part of the chair seat is prone to tipping over when the user leans forward. A specified torque should be applied, and whether the chair loses balance should be observed.
    • Forward Stability Test: Test the critical conditions for the chair to tip forward without a footrest. For chairs with a footrest, additional tests should be conducted on the่”ๅŠจ stability (coordinated stability) when the footrest is extended.
    • Lateral Stability Test: Apply a lateral force to verify the chair's resistance to tipping over in the left and right directions.
    • Backward Stability Test: Verify the critical conditions for the chair to tip backward by applying a backward force.
  3. Static Load Strength Tests

    • Seat Front Static Load Test: Apply a vertical static load to the front part of the chair seat and check for structural deformation or damage after a specified period.
    • Combined Seat and Backrest Static Load Test: Simulate a long-sitting scenario by simultaneously applying static loads to the seat surface and backrest to verify the load-bearing capacity.
    • Armrest Static Load Test: Apply static loads to the middle, front end, and sides of the armrests to test the structural strength.
    • Footrest Static Load Test: Verify the load-bearing capacity of the footrest and its connection stability with the chair body.
  4. Durability Tests

    • Seat and Backrest Durability Test: Simulate long-term use through 260,000 cycles of loading and check for breakage, looseness, or permanent deformation.
    • Armrest Durability Test: Verify the fatigue resistance through repeated loading.
    • Rotation Test: For rotatable office chairs, check whether the function is normal after completing the specified number of rotations.
    • Footrest Durability Test: Ensure long-term reliability through repeated opening and closing or loading.
    • Chair Base and Caster Durability Test: Verify wear resistance through cyclic tests such as rolling and steering.
  5. Rotation Resistance Test Use specialized equipment to measure the rotation torque of rotatable office chairs to ensure smooth rotation without jamming.

II. CE Certification Requirements CE certification according to the EN 1335-1 standard is required. You can choose between NB Notified Body CE certification or ordinary CE certification. It is recommended to choose NB Notified Body CE certification as it has higher authority and can better meet the market access requirements of the European Union. The application process includes consulting for a quote, signing a contract, filling out an application form, reviewing documents, and obtaining the CE certificate.
