Office Chair Export Packaging

Admin October 10, 2026

Office chair export packaging requires comprehensive consideration from three aspects: packaging material selection, packaging design, and packaging requirements to ensure transportation safety and cost control.

Packaging Material Selection

  1. Cardboard Boxes: These are commonly used packaging materials, and different specifications should be selected according to the size and weight of the components. Small components (such as chair legs) can use three-ply corrugated cardboard boxes, while larger and moderately heavy components (such as seat cushions and backrests) are recommended to use five-ply corrugated cardboard boxes. When selecting, ensure that the quality of the cardboard boxes meets the standards, and the size closely fits the components to avoid shaking during transportation. Some solutions propose all-paper packaging, which uses a full set of corrugated cardboard liners instead of foam or pearl cotton, fixing the components through card slots, reducing plastic usage, and balancing environmental protection and anti-collision effects.
  2. Wooden Boards: Suitable for large, heavy, or irregularly shaped office chairs. Wooden boards with a thickness of 1.5-2 centimeters and a smooth surface treatment should be selected, cut into appropriate sizes, and wrapped around the edges and key parts of the furniture, and then firmly fixed with steel straps or nails to enhance the overall structural stability.
  3. Cushioning Materials: In traditional solutions, fragile components (such as glass tabletops) need to be individually wrapped with foam materials with a density of 30-50 kg/mยณ, and the cutting should closely fit without leaving gaps; larger furniture (such as sofas) can be filled with foam fragments between the cardboard boxes or wooden boards and the furniture to enhance cushioning. However, all-paper packaging solutions replace foam by optimizing the cardboard structure (such as adding creases and card slots), reducing material costs while meeting environmental protection requirements.

Packaging Design

If the product design allows, office chairs should be reasonably disassembled, for example, packaging the backrest, seat cushion, base, and footrest separately. This can improve the loading efficiency of containers, reduce space waste, and effectively control logistics costs, especially for large-volume export orders. After disassembly, ensure that each component is firmly fixed to avoid shifting or collision during transportation.

Packaging Requirements

  1. Basic Protection: The packaging should be sturdy and have moisture-proof and shock-proof functions. The edges and corners are prone to damage during transportation, and protective measures should be added according to the material: wooden components can be wrapped with corner protectors or cardboard; metal components can be wrapped with stretch film to prevent scratches; fragile components need to be filled with cushioning materials or use all-paper card slot designs.
  2. Labeling Specifications: Each box should be clearly labeled with shipping marks, product names, quantities, weights, volumes, and other information to facilitate customs clearance and logistics management. If pallets are used, ensure that the pallets match the packaging size to avoid tilting or slipping.
  3. Environmental Protection and Compliance: Some countries have environmental protection requirements for packaging materials (such as restricting plastic usage). All-paper packaging solutions can reduce the use of plastic bags and foam, making it easier to pass customs inspections and reducing waste disposal costs.
