Explosion-Proof Grades of Office Chairs

Admin October 10, 2026

The explosion-proof grades of office chairs are classified into Grade 0, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4, with each grade corresponding to different safety requirements and application scenarios. Here are the specific details:

Grade 0 Explosion-Proof: Office chairs of this grade do not require specialized explosion-proof measures and are primarily suitable for home use. The home environment is relatively stable, with low usage frequency and intensity, and the likelihood of dangerous situations such as explosions is minimal. Therefore, the requirements for explosion-proof performance are not high, and basic usability is sufficient.

Grade 1 Explosion-Proof: This grade requires key components such as the swivel chair base, backrest casters, lifting gas rods, and armrest connectors to be made of aluminum and undergo special treatment. Aluminum has certain strength and stability, and special treatment can further enhance its performance, increasing the durability and safety of these components and reducing the probability of danger caused by component damage. It is suitable for office settings with certain safety requirements.

Grade 2 Explosion-Proof: Special high-strength materials are required for casters, lifting gas rods, etc., along with more rigorous testing and inspection. Special high-strength materials can withstand greater pressure and tension, reducing the likelihood of component failure during long-term use. Rigorous testing and inspection ensure that the quality and performance of these components meet standards, further improving the safety of office chairs. It is suitable for office environments with high usage frequency and stringent safety requirements.

Grade 3 Explosion-Proof: The seat surface material is required to undergo special treatment to withstand certain tension and pressure. The seat surface is in direct contact with the human body, and special treatment can prevent surface rupture or tearing caused by external forces, avoiding injury to the user. It is suitable for places with high requirements for seat surface safety.

Grade 4 Explosion-Proof: This is the highest level of explosion-proof requirement, necessitating special design of the entire chair structure to withstand high-intensity tension and pressure, typically referring to passing specific pressure tests, such as Level 4 classification in the BIFMA standard, where the gas rod can withstand impact pressure exceeding 200kg. Office chairs of this grade have extremely high safety and are suitable for places with extremely stringent safety requirements, such as some special industrial office environments or institutions with special safety needs.
