Office Chair Explosion-Proof Accessories

Admin October 10, 2026

Office chair explosion-proof accessories mainly include three types: explosion-proof gas rods, explosion-proof steel plates, and explosion-proof chassis. They enhance the safety of office chairs through different mechanisms and reduce usage risks.

Explosion-proof gas rods are the core components for the height adjustment function of office chairs, and their safety is directly related to the usage risks of the chairs. The gas rods are filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas internally and achieve height adjustment through piston movement. If the gas rods have insufficient sealing or the material strength does not meet the standards, explosions may occur due to gas leakage or abnormal internal pressure. Explosion-proof gas rods improve pressure resistance by optimizing the sealing structure, using high-strength steel materials (such as Grade 4 gas rods), or adopting thickened designs (such as the thickened models starting at 61 yuan). For example, the Hengkang explosion-proof Grade 4 gas rod has passed four-level pressure tests and can withstand higher loads; the thickened gas rods reduce the risk of puncture by increasing the wall thickness. When selecting, users should pay attention to the certification standards of the gas rods (such as SGS, BIFMA) and their load-bearing capacities to avoid overloading.

Explosion-proof steel plates are usually installed at the connection between the chair base and the gas rod as a secondary protective barrier. Made mostly of 3-millimeter-thick iron plates, they prevent fragment splashing in case of gas rod explosions through physical blocking. The role of explosion-proof steel plates is similar to that of a 'safety cabin'. Even if the gas rod malfunctions, the steel plate can limit the impact range of the explosion and protect the lower limbs of the user. Some users purchase steel plates for self-installation, but it is important to ensure that the steel plates match the chair model and to check the stability of the chair after installation to avoid tipping due to a shifted center of gravity.

Explosion-proof chassis are the core structural supports of chairs, and their design rationality directly affects the chair's resistance to collapse. High-quality explosion-proof chassis use thickened steel materials or one-piece molding processes to prevent sudden chair breakage by dispersing pressure and enhancing the strength of connection points. Some chassis also incorporate ergonomic designs, such as curved edges to reduce leg pressure or anti-slip patterns to improve stability. When selecting, attention should be paid to the load-bearing range of the chassis (usually more than 20% greater than the user's weight) and the material thickness to avoid gas rod tilting or chair collapse due to chassis deformation.

Among the three types of accessories, explosion-proof gas rods are the core of 'active defense', while explosion-proof steel plates and chassis serve as 'passive protection' supplements. It is recommended to prioritize selecting gas rods that have passed international safety certifications and then decide whether to install steel plates or upgrade the chassis based on the usage scenario to build a multi-level safety protection system.
