Consequences of Office Chair Explosion
The consequences of an office chair explosion are severe, ranging from serious injuries to life-threatening situations.

Severe Physical Injuries
When an office chair explodes, the high-pressure gas inside is released instantaneously, generating a powerful impact force. This force is sufficient to propel metal components on the chair, such as steel pipes and columns, at extremely high speeds. For instance, in 2013, Ms. Liu in Fujian Province was sitting on a swivel chair when it suddenly exploded. A steel pipe with a diameter of about two centimeters shot out, piercing through her lower body, with blood splattering all over the floor. Doctors removed various fragments from her abdomen, with several pieces of metal debris remaining in her intestines. Another similar incident occurred to Ms. Liu in Xiamen, where a three-centimeter-thick steel column shot out from the bottom of the chair, piercing through her lower body. It took six hours of emergency surgery in the hospital to remove over a dozen metal fragments. The ejection of these metal components can cause severe penetrating injuries to the human body, leading to internal organ rupture, massive bleeding, and other life-threatening conditions. Even if not directly hit by the metal components, the fragments produced by the explosion can also scratch the skin, causing varying degrees of cuts and abrasions.
High Destructive Power of the Impact Force
The impact force released instantaneously by the air pressure has tremendous destructive power. It can penetrate several layers of density boards, indicating that its energy is sufficient to cause severe damage to surrounding objects. If this impact force strikes a person, the consequences are unimaginable. When the human body is subjected to such a powerful impact force, bones may fracture, muscles and soft tissues may suffer severe contusions, and even the nervous system may be damaged, leading to serious consequences such as paralysis.
Long-Lasting Psychological Trauma
In addition to physical injuries, an office chair explosion can also cause significant psychological trauma to the victims. Experiencing such a sudden and severe explosion accident, victims may develop psychological problems such as fear, anxiety, and depression, developing a fear of office chairs or even similar items, affecting their normal lives and work. This psychological trauma may require long-term psychological treatment and rehabilitation to gradually recover.
