Office Chair Eject People
Office chair ejection incidents are usually caused by the explosion of pneumatic chairs, design flaws in spring chairs, or loss of control in the rebound mechanism of reclining chairs, highlighting the need to be vigilant against poor-quality products and improper use.

Pneumatic Chair Explosion: Poor-Quality Gas Springs Are the Main Cause
Explosion accidents in pneumatic lift chairs are often directly related to quality defects in the gas springs. As the core component for height adjustment, if the gas spring has issues such as uneven wall thickness, excessive pre-compression pressure, or overheating due to frequent adjustments, it may trigger the sudden release of high-pressure gas inside, causing an explosion. For example, in 2015, a lift chair exploded in Xiamen, and the gas rod was inserted more than 20 centimeters into Ms. Liu's body; in 2009, a 14-year-old boy in Shandong suffered respiratory failure due to a rotating chair explosion, with the gas rod inserted into his buttocks. In such accidents, manufacturing process defects in poor-quality gas springs (such as insufficient material strength and poor sealing) are the key contributing factors, while frequent height adjustments by users or prolonged use leading to component overheating may accelerate the outbreak of risks.
Spring Chair Ejection: Design Flaws or Component Aging
Ejection incidents in spring chairs are often related to insufficient structural stability. CCTV once reported that an elderly person was instantly ejected from a spring chair due to a design issue. Although the specific cause was not clearly identified, it was speculated to involve spring failure (such as abnormal elasticity coefficients) or structural defects (such as loose support frames). In addition, after long-term use, spring aging, metal fatigue, or loose connectors may also reduce the stability of the chair, triggering accidental ejection when the user gets up or moves.
Reclining Chair Rebound Out of Control: Lack of Buffering Mechanism
Some reclining chairs (such as those in internet cafes) adopt a rebound design. If the buffering mechanism is not well-designed, it may cause objects or people to be ejected. For example, when a man got up, the reclining chair in an internet cafe ejected his instant noodles far away due to an excessively fast rebound speed, leading netizens to joke that "it could injure people if in a public area." Such problems usually stem from an excessively strong rebound spring or a lack of damping devices, preventing the chair from resetting smoothly.
Prevention Recommendations:
- Choose genuine products: Give priority to purchasing chairs that have passed safety certifications (such as the BIFMA standard) and avoid low-priced, poor-quality products;
- Use pneumatic chairs properly: Avoid frequent height adjustments and keep the chair well-ventilated and cool during use;
- Regularly inspect and maintain: Check whether components such as springs and gas springs are loose or aged, and promptly replace damaged parts.
