Easy Packing of Office Chairs
Office chairs can be efficiently protected during packing through standardized disassembly, multi-layer protection, and proper boxing. Here are the specific steps:

I. Tool Preparation and Basic Cleaning Prepare in advance screwdrivers (cross/flat-head), rubber mallets, socket wrenches, stretch wrap, bubble wrap, foam peanuts, foam corner protectors, packing tape, and appropriately sized cardboard boxes. Clean the armrests, backrest, and seat cushion with a slightly damp cloth to prevent dust from contaminating the new environment and to avoid the stretch wrap from slipping due to surface oil during subsequent wrapping.
II. Component Disassembly and Key Protection
Disassembly of Removable Components
- Base: Invert the chair and gently tap the edge of the base's steel ring with a rubber mallet to loosen it. Grasp the base and pull it outward away from the gas lift.
- Seat Panel and Gas Lift: After placing the chair upright, use a screwdriver to remove all screws from the underside of the seat panel. Tap the metal chassis to separate the seat panel from the hydraulic cylinder while stepping on the base to prevent it from sliding.
- Armrests: Use a socket wrench to unscrew the side screws. For some, you may need to pry open the plastic cover of the adjustment knob before removing the base screws.
- Casters: For chairs with casters, it is recommended to remove the casters separately and place them in a bag to prevent them from falling off or being damaged during transportation.
Protection Wrapping Standards
- Each component should be first wrapped with 3-5 layers of stretch wrap to fix its shape, then wrapped with 2 layers of bubble wrap horizontally and vertically. Prominent parts (such as chair legs and armrest connections) should be additionally thickened.
- For chairs that cannot be disassembled, wrap them tightly with stretch wrap directly, add a layer of bubble wrap on the outside, and fill the corners of the chair legs and armrests with foam peanuts to prevent bumps.
III. Boxing Standards and Sealing Techniques
Cardboard Box Selection
- Preferably use the original packaging box. If not available, choose an 805060cm or 120L thickened moving box to ensure it can accommodate the disassembled components.
Boxing Principles
- The chair must be placed upright, with large components like the seat panel laid flat at the bottom of the box. Small components like armrests and bases should be placed around the sides. Fill the gaps between components with waste paper or foam blocks to prevent movement during transportation.
Sealing Requirements
- Use wide packing tape to secure the cardboard box crosswise. Avoid using thin ropes (which can easily damage the box or paint surface).
IV. Supplementary Methods for Simple Packing
- Handling of Foldable Components: Remove the backrest panel of dining chairs and the casters of swivel chairs. Fold folding chairs in half and wrap the joints with tape to prevent them from springing open. Place screws in sealed bags and attach them to the corresponding components.
- Edge Protection: Wrap foam corner protectors spirally around the four corners. Wrap soft-padded chairs with old bedsheets. Select 5cm wide bubble wrap and wrap it more than 5 layers thick.
- Marking and Warnings: Choose five-layer corrugated cardboard boxes. Place the chair upside down in the box (with the chair legs facing up). Fill the gaps inside the box with old newspapers. Mark the box with "This Side Up" and attach red warning tape to fragile components.
