Dust Removal from Office Chairs

Admin October 09, 2026

After dust accumulates on office chairs, different cleaning methods can be used depending on the material, as follows:

Mesh Office Chairs

  • Dust Removal: Preferably use a household vacuum cleaner. Wipe the vacuum head in advance and then thoroughly vacuum the chair body, focusing on cleaning the dust in the mesh gaps. If there is no vacuum cleaner, move the chair to an open area and pat the seat surface and cushion to make the dust fall off. If it is a sponge cushion, pay extra attention to the adsorption of debris to avoid residue.
  • Wiping and Cleaning: Dip a damp cleaning cloth in a small amount of neutral cleaning solution, such as diluted dishwashing detergent or a special furniture cleaner, and repeatedly wipe the mesh and chair body. Avoid using strongly corrosive cleaners to prevent mesh aging.
  • Removing Residue and Drying: Wipe off the cleaning solution foam with a clean damp cloth to ensure no residue remains. It can be air-dried or blown dry with a hairdryer on a low-temperature setting, but keep a distance of more than 30cm to prevent the mesh from deforming due to high temperatures.

Fabric Office Chairs

When stained with dry dirt such as dust and sand, simply pat it off gently or vacuum it up. There is no need to use a damp cloth or cleaning solution to avoid spreading stains or deforming the fabric.

Leather Office Chairs

  • PU Leather Ergonomic Chairs: You can directly wipe the seat surface with a damp cleaning cloth and then blow-dry it. If there are stubborn stains, dip a small amount of neutral cleaning solution and wipe.
  • Genuine Leather Ergonomic Chairs: For daily cleaning, use a slightly damp cleaning cloth (wrung out until no water drips) to gently wipe the seat surface. Avoid water residue to prevent the leather from getting moldy or cracked.

Other Parts

  • Aluminum Alloy Chair Legs: First, wipe with clean water, and then use a semi-damp cloth to wipe off the water stains on the surface. If the stains are old and difficult to clean, try wiping with a mixture of equal parts hot water and white vinegar.
  • Armrests and Chair Frames: Mostly made of plastic material, just wipe them clean with a cloth during daily care. For areas that accumulate a lot of dust, such as the chair frame behind the back and the gas spring under the cushion, a combination of dry and wet cleaning methods can be used.
  • Casters: Since they roll on the ground, the wheel axles are prone to getting covered with lint and fibers and need to be cleaned regularly. You can use an anti-static spray to protect the chair wheels and ensure smooth sliding.
