Office Chair Dust Cleaning
Admin October 08, 2026
The dust cleaning of an office chair can be carried out according to the following steps:

I. Preparation
- Tools and materials: Prepare clean cloths or paper towels, a vacuum cleaner or an air can (air blower), specialized furniture cleaner, water, and detergent (optional). If the chair has leather or fabric upholstery, prepare the corresponding professional cleaner.
- Environmental preparation: Choose a well-ventilated area for cleaning to avoid the accumulation of cleaner odors.
II. Main Body Cleaning
- Removable parts cleaning: Remove detachable parts such as seat covers and backrest covers. Check the cleaning instructions and put them in the washing machine for cleaning (if there are no special instructions, a neutral detergent can be used).
- Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft-bristle brush attachment to clean the backrest, seat, armrests, and other parts from top to bottom, focusing on removing floating dust and debris from the crevices.
- Air can assistance: For hidden areas that the vacuum cleaner cannot reach (such as the seams of the backrest), use an air can to blow out high-pressure air to disperse the dust.
- Wet cloth wiping: Spray an appropriate amount of cleaner on a clean cloth and gently wipe the surface of the chair, avoiding excessive force that may deform the upholstery.
- Water rinsing for residue removal: Wipe the chair with a wet cloth dipped in clean water to ensure that there is no cleaner residue, preventing material corrosion.
- Special material treatment: Leather upholstery requires a professional leather cleaner, and fabric upholstery requires a fabric cleaner. Both should be used according to the instructions. It is strictly prohibited to use cleaners containing alcohol or solvents.
III. In-depth Cleaning of the Casters
- Surface dust removal: Lay the chair down with the wheels facing up. Use a brush to sweep away surface paper scraps and sand particles, and then use the narrow nozzle of the vacuum cleaner to clean the floating dust.
- Crevice cleaning: Use a toothpick to pick out soft debris such as hair. Use a lint roller or a compressed air can to clean fine dust. Do not wipe the axles with wet wipes.
- Disassembly and cleaning: If the wheels are stuck during rotation, press the protruding point on the side of the axle to remove the wheels. Use a toothbrush dipped in soapy water to scrub the wheels and axles, rinse them, dry them, and then reinstall them.
- Lubrication and reassembly: Drop 1-2 drops of specialized lubricating oil on the bearings, rotate the wheels to distribute the oil evenly, and listen for a 'click' sound during installation to confirm that they are secure. Push the chair to test its smoothness.
IV. Regular Maintenance It is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust every week or every two weeks and wipe the surface of the chair with a wet cloth to maintain long-term cleanliness.
