Office Chair Disposal Process

Admin October 09, 2026

The office chair disposal process needs to be handled differently according to the nature of the unit and management requirements, mainly divided into four categories: universities, state-owned asset management departments, general enterprises, and public institutions. The specific processes are as follows:

I. Process of the Laboratory and Equipment Management Department at Peking University

  1. Determination of Service Life: The minimum service life for furniture assets is 15 years.
  2. Reached Service Life: If the furniture is damaged beyond repair or has low repair value, the furniture supervisor submits application materials, which are reviewed by the affiliated unit and then reported to the Equipment Department for processing.
  3. Not Reached Service Life: If the furniture is damaged and has no repair value, the user needs to submit materials including a disposal application form, explanation, and photos of the furniture. After review by the affiliated unit, the materials are reported to the Equipment Department; the Equipment Department then reports to the Office of the State-owned Asset Management Committee, which submits the case to the Fixed Asset Disposal Team for approval; upon approval, the Furniture Office is responsible for unified disposal.

II. Process of the State-owned Asset Management Department

  1. Asset Classification: Determine the nature of the furniture through its code (codes starting with J indicate fixed assets, codes starting with D indicate low-value assets; if there is no letter, log in to the asset management system to inquire).
  2. System Operation: Log in to the asset management system, select 'Comprehensive Asset Management' for fixed assets and 'Inventory Management' for low-value assets, and click 'Disposal Application'; enter the asset code, select the corresponding furniture, generate and fill out the form, and print the disposal application form.
  3. Submission for Approval: After the reporting unit signs and stamps the form, it should be submitted to Teacher Ying Mengqian at Room 425 of the Logistics Building on the Chengdu campus, or to Teacher Ma Guangyi at the Furniture Management Office in the Logistics Courtyard on the Nanchong campus to complete the disposal.

III. General Office Furniture Disposal Process

  1. Assessment of Disposal Reasons: Includes severe damage (such as frame deformation or breakage), quality issues, outdated styles, or safety hazards.
  2. Determination of Disposal Method: Choose repair and maintenance, disassembly and disposal, part replacement, recycling, donation, auction, self-disposal, or destruction based on the actual situation.
  3. Execution Process: The using department fills out the disposal application form and signs it; the logistics support department, maintenance personnel, and the using department form an appraisal team to review and propose handling opinions, which are then reported to the company leadership for approval; after approval, it is transferred to the company manager's office for replacement with new items, and the waste consumables are uniformly handed over to the logistics support department for processing.

IV. Disposal Process for Office Furniture in Public Institutions

  1. Disposal Application and Internal Approval: The using department submits an application, explains the reasons, and fills out an asset disposal application form; after verification of the book value by the financial department, review of the information by the asset management department, and approval by the unit leadership, it proceeds to the next step.
  2. Asset Appraisal and Technical Appraisal: Commission an asset appraisal agency to determine the residual value of high-value or special furniture; organize technicians or appraisal agencies to issue technical appraisal reports.
  3. Submission for Approval: Submit application documents (including reports, disposal forms, value certificates, appraisal reports, etc.) to the competent authority; after review by the competent authority, report to the financial department, which issues a disposal approval.
  4. Asset Disposal and Income Management: Dispose of the assets publicly through auctions or bidding, with the proceeds turned over to the state treasury or included in budget management; adjust the accounts according to the approval documents to ensure consistency between the accounts and the actual situation.
  5. Archival Management: Organize and archive all documents related to the disposal process (such as applications, approval documents, appraisal reports, etc.) and store them properly.
