Office Chair Disassembly Tutorial

Admin October 17, 2026

The disassembly of the Belco Office Chair BC03Q Deluxe Edition can be carried out according to the following steps, and another general disassembly method is also provided for reference:

I. Standard Disassembly Process for Belco Office Chair BC03Q Deluxe Edition

  1. Removing the Headrest
Pull the headrest to its highest position. Use your thumb or index finger to press down on the thin metal strip in the middle of the headrest while applying downward pressure. When you feel the headrest's locking mechanism loosen, pull the headrest straight up. If the metal strip is difficult to hold, you can use a discarded hard card (such as a bank card) inserted between the metal strip and the headrest connection to assist in pressing, avoiding direct force that may deform the metal strip.

  2. Removing the Armrests
Invert the chair and place it on a stable, elevated platform (such as a workbench) to ensure sufficient operating space. Use the hex wrench that comes with the box to loosen the fixing screws beneath the armrests. If the screws are rusted or too tight, you can spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) to assist in disassembly.

  3. Separating the Backrest from the Base
Use the hex wrench to remove the fixing screws at the connection between the backrest and the base (usually located beneath or on the side of the backrest). Pay attention to the number and positions of the screws during disassembly to avoid omissions that may cause difficulties in subsequent assembly.

  4. Separating the Five-Star Base from the Gas Spring
Place the chair flat on the ground. Use a rubber mallet (if a rubber mallet is not available, wrap a regular hammer with a cloth to reduce noise) to evenly tap the edges of the five legs of the five-star base, gradually separating the five-star base from the gas spring. Control the force during tapping to avoid damaging the surface of the gas spring.

  5. Separating the Gas Spring from the Base
Use the rubber mallet to tap the center of the base plate, loosening the connection between the gas spring and the base through vibration, and then pull the gas spring straight up. If the connection is too tight, you can gently shake the base from side to side to assist in separation.

  6. Removing the Casters
Grasp the root of the caster directly and pull it straight up with force. If the caster is stuck due to long-term use, you can insert a screwdriver into the gap between the caster and the five-star base, gently pry it open, and then pull it out.

  7. Packing and Storage
Place the base face down in the packing box and cover it with foam board for protection. Place the armrests, backrest, headrest, and casters in sequence, ensuring that the components are neatly arranged. Finally, place small accessories such as the adapter, screw pack, and instruction manual in a dedicated compartment to avoid loss.

II. General Disassembly Method (Applicable to Some Gas-Lift Office Chairs)
Face the chair directly, step on the five-star base with your feet to maintain stability, and pull the lift handle up to its highest position (keeping the handle unrelaxed during the process). Grasp the edges of both sides of the chair with both hands and adjust the force according to the chair's years of use (the older the chair, the more force is required). Pull the gas lift straight up while shaking it from side to side. This method requires controlling the force to avoid sudden ejection of the gas lift that may cause injury.
