Office Chair Disassembly Steps

The disassembly steps of office chairs mainly involve the dismantling process, and the dismantling steps vary for different types of office chairs. Here are the disassembly steps for common types of office chairs:

Ergonomic Chair (General Dismantling Method)

• Preparation Tools: You need to prepare a hammer, a power drill (or a hex screwdriver), and a towel. The towel can be used to protect the surface of the chair and prevent scratches during the dismantling process.
• Dismantling Steps:
  • Remove the Headrest, Armrests, and Backrest: If the headrest is fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws and remove it. The screws for the armrests may be located on the back frame or the seat frame; unscrew them in the same way. The backrest is usually fixed to the chassis with three screws; unscrew them to remove the backrest.
  • Separate the Seat, Gas Lift, and Chair Base: Lay the chair down and locate the connection points between the hydraulic rod and the chassis, and between the hydraulic rod and the chair base, and then dismantle them.

• Remove the Headrest: First, pull the headrest to its highest position, press down hard on the thin metal strip in the middle, and when you feel the catch loosen, pull off the headrest. If the metal strip is difficult to press, you can use a discarded hard card to assist the operation.
• Remove the Armrests: Invert the chair on a high platform, use the hex screwdriver that comes with the box to loosen the screws under the armrests, and then remove the armrests.
• Separate the Backrest and Base: Use a hex screwdriver to remove components such as the backrest, base shell, gas spring, and five-star base. Use a rubber hammer (or an ordinary hammer) to strike the five feet of the five-star base upwards respectively to separate them from the gas spring, and then strike the steel plate at the base to separate the gas spring from the base.
• Remove the Casters: Simply pull off the casters of the five-star base with force.

Ordinary Office Chair (Including Gas Lift Removal)

Face the chair directly, step on the five-star base with your feet, pull the lifting handle upwards to raise the chair to its highest position, and keep the handle unrelaxed. Then, hold both sides of the chair with both hands, shake it left and right and pull it upwards to remove the gas lift.
