Disassembly of Gas Rod in Office Chairs
There are several common and effective methods for disassembling the gas rod in office chairs:

Method 1: Regular Pulling Method
Face the chair directly, step on the five-star base with your feet to fix it, pull the lifting handle upward to the highest position and hold it, and firmly grip the edges on both sides of the chair with your hands. Adjust the intensity of force according to the service life of the chair; the longer the usage time, the greater the force required. Separate the gas rod from the chair seat by shaking it left and right and pulling it upward. This method is suitable for most standard office chairs. When operating, be sure to maintain body balance to avoid the chair tipping over due to excessive force.
Method 2: Manual Disassembly Method
For small or simply structured chairs, you can directly rotate the connection between the chair seat and the gas rod in the opposite direction with both hands, using friction to gradually loosen the joint. This method does not require tools but is only applicable to models where the gas rod and the chair seat are not fixed with fasteners. Before operating, confirm whether the chair structure supports manual disassembly.
Method 3: Rubber Mallet Tapping Method
Use a rubber mallet to tap evenly around the connection between the chair seat base and the gas rod. The elasticity of the rubber mallet can reduce damage to the surface of the chair. It is recommended to operate with two people: one person fixes the five-star base, and the other person taps. When tapping, avoid concentrating on a single point to prevent local deformation. This method is suitable for cases where the gas rod is severely stuck.
Method 4: Iron Hammer Quick Striking Method
Raise the gas rod to the highest position to expand the operating space. Select a large-sized iron hammer and strike the top of the gas rod quickly and vertically. Control the force when striking to avoid damaging the internal structure of the five-star base. After operating, check the separation of the gas rod from the chair seat and the five-claw base. This method is suitable for scenarios where the gas rod is severely rusted or conventional methods are ineffective, but it has a relatively high risk. Non-professionals are advised to use it with caution.
Method 5: Lubrication-Assisted Disassembly Method
Apply lubricant evenly to the connection between the chair seat base and the gas spring, as well as the connection between the five-claw base and the gas spring, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to penetrate. When disassembling, first lightly tap the four corners of the chair seat base with a rubber mallet, and two people cooperate to lift the chair seat upward. Then tap the bottom periphery of the gas spring to loosen it. Tapping through a cloth can prevent the paint on the five-claw base from peeling off. Finally, install the new gas spring in order and test the lifting function. Although this method takes a relatively long time, it can effectively protect the structure of the chair and is suitable for precision or high-value office chairs.
