Office Chair Disassembly and Shipping
Admin October 11, 2026
The disassembly and shipping of office chairs can be carried out according to the disassembly and packing steps, and attention should be paid to tool use, protection, and packing requirements. Details are as follows:

Disassembly Steps
- Prepare Tools: You will need screwdrivers (commonly cross-head screwdrivers or hex wrenches, some brands include them with the chair), rubber mallets, adjustable wrenches, and you can prepare an electric screwdriver to improve efficiency.
- Disassemble the Base:
- Turn the chair upside down and evenly tap around the bottom steel ring of the base with a rubber mallet to separate the five-star base from the gas lift.
- Alternatively, you can first separate the backrest, raise the gas lift to its highest position, hold the seat with one hand, press the height adjustment lever with the other hand, and shake to remove the base.
- Disassemble Other Components: Use a screwdriver to remove the screws connecting the armrests, backrest, and other components. Check the tightness of the screws during disassembly to avoid over-tightening and causing stripped threads.
- Disassemble the Gas Lift: After separating the base from the gas lift, turn the chair feet upside down and knock out the gas lift with a rubber mallet; if you don't have a rubber mallet, you can use a wooden board as a cushion.
Packing Steps
- Clean and Check:
- Wipe the surfaces of all components (armrests, backrest, chair legs, etc.) with a cloth.
- Before packing, check all parts to ensure that the seat, backrest, armrests, wheels, gas lift, base, screws, etc., are all present.
- Component Packaging and Protection:
- Wrap the surfaces of the components with stretch wrap to prevent scratches.
- Use bubble wrap for cushioning and protection. First, wrap horizontally two times, then vertically, ensuring full coverage; focus on thickly wrapping vulnerable areas such as painted surfaces, edges, and the connection points of the armrests.
- Packing and Securing:
- Place the wrapped components in the carton in an orderly manner.
- Fill the gaps with bubble wrap, foam, or other filling materials to prevent the components from moving and colliding.
- Put small accessories such as screws into separate sealed bags and label them to prevent loss or confusion.
- Confirm that the components are securely fixed before sealing the carton.
Precautions
- Tool Use: Always use a rubber mallet to tap the base to avoid scratching the painted surface with metal tools; be careful with the force when removing screws to prevent stripped threads that may affect subsequent assembly.
- Protection Measures: Ensure adequate protection during packaging, focusing on thickly wrapping protruding parts such as edges and the connection points of the armrests to avoid exposure.
- Packing Requirements: There should not be large gaps inside the carton; otherwise, the components may shake and collide during transportation and get damaged. If the original factory carton is lost, you need to find or customize a sturdy carton of the appropriate size, provide good internal cushioning, and mark it with "Fragile" and other warnings on the outside to remind handlers to handle it with care.
