Office Chair Disassembly
Admin October 08, 2026
The disassembly methods for office chairs vary depending on their type and design. Here are the common types and their disassembly steps:

1. Livorno S02 Executive Chair
This model is an electrically adjustable office chair, and special attention should be paid to the handling of the motor and connecting wires during disassembly.
- Disconnect the power and connecting wires: First, ensure that the chair's power is turned off. Locate the motor connecting wires (usually three) between the backrest and the base, and carefully disconnect them using tools to avoid damaging the wires through pulling.
- Separate the backrest: After disconnecting the connecting wires, the backrest may be fixed by buckles or screws. Depending on the design, loosen the screws or press the buckles to complete the disassembly.
- Other components: If further disassembly is required, refer to the instruction manual for handling complex components such as the motor and chassis to avoid malfunctions caused by incorrect operations.
2. General Office Chair (Mechanical Structure)
This type of chair consists of chair legs, casters, a chassis, a seat, a gas lift, a backrest, armrests, a headrest, etc. It is recommended to disassemble it in the reverse order of installation.
- Separate the backrest: Most backrests are fixed by screws or buckles. Use a screwdriver to loosen the fixing screws or press the buckles to remove the backrest.
- Remove the base: Raise the gas lift to its highest position, hold the seat with one hand, and press the lift lever with the other hand while shaking to loosen and separate the base from the gas lift.
- Extract the gas lift: Invert the chair legs and gently tap the top of the gas lift with a rubber mallet (or tap after placing a wooden board) to avoid deforming the chair legs by direct hammering.
- Disassemble the chair legs and casters: If the casters need to be replaced, use a screwdriver to pry open the connection between the wheels and the chair legs, or rotate the wheels until they are loose and then pull them out.
3. Ergonomic Chair (Without Professional Tools)
This type of chair has a complex design but can be disassembled with the help of basic tools.
- Headrest and armrests: The headrest is usually fixed to the backrest with screws. Use a screwdriver to loosen them. The screws for the armrests are usually located on the back frame or seat frame, and you need to observe the fixing points before disassembly.
- Backrest and chassis: The backrest and chassis are fixed by three screws. Locate the screw positions and loosen them, and be sure to keep the screws to avoid loss.
- Seat and gas lift: After separating the seat, the connection between the gas lift and the chair legs may be tight. Wrap the top of the gas lift with a towel and gently tap the chair legs with a hammer to loosen them. Avoid directly hammering the gas lift to prevent the risk of explosion.
Precautions:
- Take photos to record the positions of each component before disassembly for easier reassembly later.
- When the connection between the gas lift and the chair legs is tight, do not forcefully disassemble it. It is recommended to use a rubber mallet or tap after placing a wooden board.
- When disassembling an electric chair, disconnect the power first to avoid the risk of short circuits or electric shocks.
