Office Chair Design and Manufacturing

Admin October 14, 2026

The design and manufacturing of office chairs encompass two core aspects: design and manufacturing, involving various elements such as ergonomics application, material processing, and component assembly.

Manufacturing Process: Precision Processing from Frame to Finished Product

  1. Bottom Cushion Frame Production: Square steel tubes are placed into a hydraulic press and bent into square frames with rounded corners at all four angles to ensure structural stability. Subsequently, support steel plates are welded to the frame openings to enhance load-bearing capacity. S-shaped springs are then installed and connected to three reverse support steel bars, forming an elastic support structure.
  2. Surface Material Processing: Black leather is used as the primary covering material. Plastic templates for components such as headrests and armrests are placed on the leather, and the required shapes are precisely cut using a utility knife. After cutting, the leather is adhered to harder foam cushioning pads. Larger foam pads are cut for the seat cushion and backrest to ensure they conform to the human body's curves.
  3. Comfort Optimization: Softer, fluffy foam pads are cut into rectangles and pleated and sewn onto the leather after marking to create a three-dimensional surface for the seat back. For the seat cushion, the leather is sewn together with a decorative layer to enhance tactile feel and aesthetics.
  4. Metal Frame Decoration and Assembly: The metal frame surface is wrapped with foam pads, and the sewn leather cover is placed over it and secured with a retaining plate. Adjustable-height armrests, hydraulic rods, gas springs, and bottom support rods are assembled onto the metal base. Finally, seat wheels are installed to complete the mobility configuration.
  5. Detail Installation: The headrest and armrests are inserted into specific positions to ensure all components are firmly connected and move smoothly, forming a complete office chair structure.

Design Aspect: Integration of Ergonomics and Aesthetics

  1. Ergonomics Application: Taking the Verus chair as an example, it features built-in sacral enhancement design and adjustable lumbar support to maintain proper sitting posture and provide dynamic support. The TriFlex backrest conforms to three areasโ€”the sacrum, lower lumbar, and the center of the spine, as well as the upper part of the scapulaโ€”through its curved pattern, achieving shaping, ventilation, and full spinal support.
  2. Combination of Aesthetics and Functionality: The Verus series offers a variety of color and fabric options, supporting personalized configurations of suspension support, padded, or TriFlex backrests. This not only meets different environmental needs but also enhances product adaptability through modular design.

The design and manufacturing of office chairs must balance structural strength, human comfort, and visual aesthetics. Through precise manufacturing processes and scientific design concepts, the ultimate goal of unifying function and form is achieved.
