Office Chair Dent Repair
Admin October 22, 2026
Office chair dent repair should be carried out according to the type of damage. Common methods include inspection and assessment, targeted repair, and handling special cases.

I. Inspection and Assessment
- Observe dent characteristics: Check the location of the dent (center/side/whole), and press to test the support force. If the collapse depth exceeds 1 centimeter or there is a feeling of 'falling through' when sitting down, it indicates that the internal filling or support structure has been damaged.
- Check for loose connectors: Shake the chair and listen for unusual noises. Inspect the screws and mortise-and-tenon joints on the chair legs, armrests, and other parts for looseness. If any looseness is found, tighten them as a priority.
- Test the status of the gas lift rod: For lifting chairs, check whether the gas lift rod is leaking oil and whether the lifting is smooth. If the gas lift rod sinks or cannot be fixed at a certain height, targeted treatment is required.
II. Targeted Repair
- Tightening and reinforcement
- Use a screwdriver to tighten all loose screws, with a focus on checking the connection points between the chair legs, armrests, and the seat surface.
- If the screw holes are worn, insert toothpicks or wooden sticks dipped in white glue. After they dry completely, screw the screws back in.
- Install right-angle brackets at the connection points between the chair legs and the cross-braces to enhance structural stability.
- Dealing with a sinking gas lift rod
- Hose clamp method: Wrap a hose clamp around the surface of the gas cylinder. Increase the friction by using a rubber band or sandpaper to polish the gas cylinder, and then tighten the clamp to fix the height.
- PVC pipe method: Saw the PVC pipe and split it lengthwise, then slip it over the gas cylinder to prevent sliding. Alternatively, use a plastic shower ring as a substitute (but assess the load-bearing risk).
III. Handling Special Cases
- Chair tilting: If the chair tilts to one side, check whether the wheels are damaged or whether the ground is level. Replace the matching wheel feet or adjust the ground level.
- Loose mesh fabric: If the mesh fabric on the seat surface is loose, it needs to be tightened again or replaced (refer to professional tutorials for specific steps).
Safety tips: Before repairing, ensure that there is no risk of electric leakage in the environment and avoid using sharp tools to scratch the chair surface. If core components such as the gas lift rod or internal structure are involved, it is recommended to contact professional repair personnel to prevent safety hazards caused by improper operation.
