Office Chair Deformation Repair
Office chair deformation repair should be carried out according to the specific deformed part and type. Common situations and repair methods are as follows:

1. Seat plate or seat surface collapse For upholstered office chairs, minor sponge deformation can be restored by patting and airing. Utilize natural ventilation to accelerate water evaporation and make the sponge fibers rebound. If the collapse is severe, replace it with a high-density sponge cushion or an elastic support structure (such as springs or straps), ensuring that the new components match the size of the original seat plate. For regular office chairs, check whether the metal support structure beneath the seat plate is loose or broken. If it is loose, use a wrench to tighten the screws. If it is broken, replace the metal bracket or the entire seat plate to avoid secondary deformation caused by uneven local stress.
2. Frame looseness or deformation Loose connections in the frame (such as screws and mortise-and-tenon joints) are common problems. When screws are loose, tighten them with a screwdriver of the corresponding size and check for thread wear. Replace with longer screws if necessary. For loose mortise-and-tenon joints, first clean the dust from the interface, apply woodworking glue, and then reassemble it, securing it with clamps until the glue is completely dry. If the frame is bent due to external force (such as deformation of metal chair legs), handle it according to the material. For wooden frames, try local heating and then slow correction. For metal frames, use hydraulic pliers or professional tools to reset them. If the deformation is severe, it is advisable to replace the components directly to avoid structural weakness caused by forced repair.
3. Hydraulic rod or adjustment mechanism failure If the backrest cannot stand upright or the height adjustment fails, it is mostly due to hydraulic system failure. First, check for oil leakage marks on the surface of the hydraulic rod. If the seal is damaged, replace it with a hydraulic rod of matching specifications (pay attention to the height and load-bearing parameters being consistent with the original rod). If only the adjustment button is stuck, disassemble the base, clean the internal gears or springs, and apply a small amount of lubricating grease to restore flexibility. When replacing the hydraulic rod, turn the chair upside down, use special tools to disassemble the old rod, and ensure that the piston is fully inserted into the base hole during installation to avoid oil leakage caused by tilting.
4. Wheel or base tilt When the chair tilts to one side, first check whether the wheels are damaged or whether the ground is level. Damaged wheels need to be replaced as a whole (note that the shape of the wheel axle is round or square, and the diameter is the same as that of the original wheel). Apply lubricant to the wheel axle before installation to reduce friction. If the ground is uneven, install adjustable base pads on the short legs. If the metal bracket of the base is deformed, gently tap it back into place with a hammer or replace the entire five-star foot to ensure that each wheel is evenly stressed.
Before repair, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the chair and prepare appropriate tools (such as screwdrivers, wrenches, woodworking glue, etc.). Wear gloves during operation to avoid scratches. If hydraulic rod replacement is involved, it is recommended that two people collaborate to ensure safety.
