Office Chair Deflation Repair

Admin October 22, 2026

Repairing an office chair with deflation issues requires targeted measures based on the specific cause. Common causes and solutions are as follows:

1. Aging or damaged gas rod seals Aging or breakage of the seal at the bottom of the gas rod is a common cause of air leakage. Use a wrench or screwdriver to disassemble the bottom structure of the gas rod, remove the seal, clean its surface, and check for cracks or deformation. If the seal is damaged, purchase a new one of the same specification for replacement. During installation, ensure that the seal fits snugly against the surface of the gas rod to avoid missing or misaligned installation. After installation, test the chair's lifting and lowering function to confirm that there is no air leakage.

2. Repairing the inner tube or seal valve assembly If the inner tube is punctured by a sharp object, causing slow air leakage, use special glue to repair small wounds or cover the wound with a patch and secure it with straps. If the inner tube is severely damaged, send the entire inner and outer tube assembly to a professional repair shop. For damage to the seal valve assembly, disassemble the valve at the top of the gas rod, check if components such as the valve core and spring are loose or broken, replace damaged parts, and then reassemble to ensure that the valve closes tightly.

3. Checking accessories and filling leaks A damaged or improperly installed dust cover can allow dust to enter the valve, causing blockage or wear. Check the integrity of the dust cover; replace it if damaged or realign it if misinstalled. If accessories such as the air reservoir or rubber cup are loose or broken, tighten the screws or replace the parts. For small leaks, apply grease or detergent to the leak site to form a temporary seal, but this method is only suitable for emergency repairs. For long-term use, replace the gas rod.

4. Internal gas rod leakage and replacement If the internal nitrogen unit or valve of the gas rod leaks, causing the chair to sink automatically, it indicates that the gas rod has failed, and the entire gas rod must be replaced. Do not attempt "unorthodox" methods such as injecting grease or welding, as these operations can damage the structure of the gas rod and pose an explosion risk. When replacing, choose products that have passed international safety certifications such as SGS and BIFMA, and prioritize brands like Weiyasi and Sanhong to ensure explosion-proof performance. Measure the total length, outer tube diameter, and inner tube diameter of the old gas rod, and provide the data and photos to the seller to confirm the specifications to avoid installation failure due to mismatched sizes.

If none of the above methods work, contact a professional gas rod manufacturer for repair. Do not blindly disassemble or assemble parts to avoid exacerbating the fault or causing safety hazards.
